“Well presented and comfortable room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2011

My wife and I stayed at Aspen on King to break up our little tiki-tour on our way from Nelson to Lake Tekapo. Aspen on King is located about 5 minutes out of the CBD area. The room was on the second floor in an apparently newer building that was away from the street. The room was very tidy, well presented, and comfortable. There was a nice little balcony with a couple comfortable chairs and a small table. Aspen on King offers free internet (why don't more places do this?) although our room was out of range (no wifi in newer building) we used the Cat 4 cable that was supplied (plugs directly into the network jack on the laptop). We had a unit that had a spa bath and it was quite nice. We would stay at Aspen on King again.

hosts were extremely nice. We enjoyed the restaurant on site & enjoyed having dessert delivered. Loved the clean & tidy rooms with spa bath, we voted this as our best Motel, We will deff come again in the future. Kids loved the giant outdoor chess set, trampoline & childrens play area.

Room Tip: All rooms looked great

Stayed here with my family to finish off a wonderful NZ holiday. Had to contend with the noise from an all night party downstairs thrown by guests who were old enough to know better. Raised the noise issue with the owner the next morning and she was dismissive and disinterested. We had a broken power point behind the king bed with live wires exposed which was a concern. Quality of the rooms were average to say the least and in need of some major TLC. Overall NZ experience was high quality, affordable family accommodation with great people running the motels. Unfortunately it only takes one to let the side down.

Room Tip: Cannot recommend this one, look around before booking there are better options

Booked and paid for a "2 bedroom unit - King Bed, with kitchen". Got a one bedroom unit, with a double bed, and a tired microwave. No real effort to remedy the problem. Manager supplied a portable hotplate on request. Unit was cold and the fan heater provided little relief. I will be coming down to Timaru on business regularly over the next 12 months or so. Won't be staying here.

We had one of the new units at the rear of the property. Very quiet, clean and comfortable. Nice separate bedroom, large bathroom with spa bath, cosy lounge/dining and fully equiped kitchen. Have now stayed here twice, and would definitely stay again.

My daughter, her baby and I stayed at this motel for a night. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful, and the motel is well equipped and comfortable. It is clean and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. A restaurant and bar is attached, and you can order room service meals. We had a lovely dinner.

It is close to town, but not too close. Good value and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in Timaru.

Excellent accommodation. From the first contact with host to checkout, hosts were extremely helpful. With restaurant on site enjoyed being able to eat in restauraunt then retire to room and have dessert delivered. Would happily stay again in the future.
