My friend Colin and I stayed here one night when passing through Timaru on a cycle tour. Our hosts, Trish and John, turned out to both be cyclists and they were extremely welcoming. Their 1919 character home is beautiful and on a quiet street, but close to the centre of Timaru. Our rooms were well appointed, almost luxurious, and the breakfast we were served was really, really yummy. Colin has vowed to return here with his lovely wife!

We visited family in Timaru for Christmas but decided to stay elsewhere as things were getting very crowded. We chose Sefton Homestay and couldn't have encountered better hospitality - John and Trish made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

Loved Timaru and loved staying here. John and Trish run a very professional bed and breakfast and excellent service. We stayed in the King room with the private bathroom across the hall (the only down side although to be fair we knew this at the time of booking it would just have been nicer to have had an ensuite with a king bed) BUT wow what a bathroom - just beautifully decorated. I really liked John and Trish's sense of style everything around you is very tastefully done with lovely extra touches like flowers, water in a decanter, a lovely separate guest lounge with TV and tea and coffee and sherry! The breakfast was excellent and yes you have a cooked breakfast (if you wish) included in the very reasonable inclusive price. Everything is very clean and the house itself is beautiful with lovely wood finishes and a real sense of history. I loved staying here and would definately go back. I really love it when you stay in a place where your hosts know what they are doing and it appears effortless to them and they deliver without really knowing how wonderful their service is ......Thank you John and Trish if only we could have stayed longer.....

Travelled with friends from Australia experiencing the South Island's many delights. It is 18 months since we were here last & we had no hesitation in booking at this great Timaru B&B again. The hosts John & Trish are longtime locals & can assist with all facets of information required including food, watering holes, attractions, must see & must do's. The rooms are great.....clean, spacious, well appointed & quiet. There is a lovely little sitting room full of books, TV & internet along with complimentary port. Breakfast is wonderful using local produce wherever possible & all freshly prepared. It is only 5 minutes walk from town & the gardens are lovely. This B&B certainly covers all the right bases & epitomises the real spirit of the 'B & B Concept'.
To John, Trish & Ollie thanks again for a wonderful stay & if in Timaru again we would not even consider staying anywhere else.
