Stayed in a one bedroom apartment in August. Perfect location for heading up to Turoa, and still close to town. Apartment was modern, tidy and clean, and had everything you need to be self-sufficient - cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, even stereo and DVD player. Flatscreen TV and freeview, all was set up on a shelf out of the way, looked nice and tidy and worked perfectly. Spacious unit with a good sized bathroom and comfy bed with electric blankets - sooo good after a day on the mountain. Best bit of it all - shower pressure is awesome. Despite being next to the railway, the train is so infrequent that it's not intrusive at all. The main reasons this is four star and not five are that 1) There's no towel rail in the bathroom, and the sink kind of rolls in so not much space for toiletries and 2) it's really, really difficult to find reception when you first arrive and then to find someone who is running reception, but once we found her they were happy to give us our key early and were friendly. Overall, a really good stay for a really competitive rate.
