Stayed here with a friend in the Adult only week in June I have never tried Sunsail before as always booked Mark Warner but they no longer offer any good Adult only summer holidays so I thought I would try Sunsail who I have before considered more up market. I was disapointed with my experience with Sunsail. The admin side is very unorganised they got our names wrong my friend booked and paid for group tennis and was told by the tennis coach that he doesn't run the group lesson that she had booked. Another friend had her tickets sent with her name wrong and had to wait at the airport for new ones. The resort is very pretty and the rooms are of a very good standard. The waiters and bar staff all very friendly. The bar prices are expensive for Turkey we had to pay £16 for a bottle of Turkish wine the same wine which I drink in Sofra in covent garden for £12.95! The beers are about £3.50 and G&T £5 If you fancy a milkshake you will pay £5.20! The bar sandwiches at lunch are about £7 and not that great, don't go for the club sandwich its not what you think. I had to pay £22 for some sun screen as its a remote location they have a captive audience and seem set on ripping them off which is very annoying. The activity staff are all friendly however not up to the standard of the Mark Warner activity staff in terms of experience and coaching

We have recently returned from a week at Club Perili - if only it had been longer.
The hotel is so unusual - in an amazing and delightful way. Each room is different - and we certainly had a magnificent Ottoman Stye room with wonderful views over the bay.
The SunSail team and the site staff were always helpful and friendly. On arrival we had issue with air conditioning and on reporting it to reception by the time I got back to the room someone was there fixing ithe problem - excellent!
This holiday was to celebrate a special birthday and it has certainly been added as a lovely memory for the future. The sailing was great, the equipment first class and the training available was superb.
The only very minor comment was regarding the food - it was perfectly acceptable but certainly not 5 star.
The beach was shingle but that was not an issue for us.
There is a long transfer - harder on the way there when it was dark, but on the return journey to the airport the views were amazing.
We used the Spa on site for several treatments - we found the treatments and staff excellent and we thought good value price wise.

“outragous bar prices”

Club Perili

Jun 26, 2008

As another 2007 fire victim, i returned to perilli for the 2 adult only weeks.

They have re-built the club well, and the new restaurant is nice.

However on pricing, Sunsail have lost the plot big time.

A pint of beer is about £3 and a half pint about £2.70

Wine £15 a bottle and Moet £200 a bottle

3 ice creams £10

if i were there with children, wanting treats etc i would be really woried about my bank balance.

Like most people, we started drinking our airport purchase, and used to go to the little shop at the end of the drive for Tonic water and coke.

a litre of tonic at the shop 85p a litre of tonic at the bar about £5

Water well if you drank the correct amount per day, a couple on holiday would part with about £120 in water costs alone. funny how its free at Mark Warner

Food was similar to before, but the quality lacked a little.

“Perili - good but not as good as Sunsail of old”

We were due to spend 2 weeks at Perili club in Sept 2007 but our holiday was unfortunately curtailed by a fire at the resort. The staff at Perili (English and particularly the locals) handled the situation brilliantly and couldn't have done more for the guests.

We went on the Adult only weeks which wasgreat - no kids. The downside was that there were more people there wanting to take out dinghies and yachts than would be the case if the place had more youngsters. This resulted in queues for dinghies and lack of day yachts. We raised this with management and they admitted they had been caught unaware as this was their first attempt at adult weeks so hopefully steps are planned to address that.

The sailing area at Perili is brillliant - reliable cross winds every day and a much larger than usual sailing area. Great for dinghies and windsurfers. Also a good sailing area for day yachts - nice bays and beaches nearby with opportunities to swim, visit small tavernas etc..

The club itself is well laid out with a nice beach and good pool areas one for activity one for chilling out.

Food was better than average but not as good as we've experienced at other Sunsail clubs.

Drinks were expensive but not outrageous. The club is fairly remote and there is no competition in the area so Sunsail can charge what they like. The result was that many people went into Datca, bought their own drinks and drank them at their room. This made the bar quieter and less fun than it could have been. Still very pleasant in the bar though and it did mean there were plenty of seats.

Overall - excellent holiday but not as good as Sunsail of old. We decided to make it our last Sunsail holiday for a while while we check out competitor offerings - however, we have a free week as compensation for last year's curtailment and are revisiting Perili - last chance Sunsail!

We've taken about 10 Sunsail holidays now and have noticed a general change in their approach. On our early holidays we were impressed by the culture of mixing staff and guests at social time (e.g. mealtimes, quizzes etc.) and the maturity of young staff who were often expected to perform beyond what one would normally expect e.g. put on shows on prizegiving night, formal presentations to guests etc. . We were also impressed by the focus on sailing and the knowledge of all staff at the clubs. In recent years, the Sunsail brand has been diluted and they now offer similar packages to competitors e.g. Mark Warner, Nielson etc. - i.e. they offer cycling, beauty treatments, fitness classes etc.. All very worthy but different from what we experienced in the early days and a noticeable dilution of the brand.

We've also noticed a tendency to offer large resort type clubs rather than smaller intimate clubs. The result of these changes is that the guests have less in common with each other and tend to be more clique like, the staff are less friendly and helpful and guests don't get to know them as well - in earlier times, the staff and guests were well integrated which resulted in almost no criticism of Sunsail (it would be like criticising your family or friends) - now there is some moaning and complaining by guests who are looking at Sunsail as a service provider and expecting a high level of service. Its a shame and a number of Sunsail veterans made similar comments to the Sunsail management team dealing with the fire at Perili. Interestingly, the Ops Director (Harry somebody) at Sunsail admitted he has no experience of sailing and his background is in large hotels. When he shared his vision and opinions of the way the clubs should be run, they reflected that background i.e. focus on wide range of high quality services, quality food, entertainment etc..

This isn't what the Sunsail brand used to stand for - not necessarily bad for First Choice (who now own Sunsail) but unattractive to Sunsail regulars who are looking for something different (i.e. what they used to get).

“Beautiful club BUT bar to expensive!!”

Club Perili

Jun 10, 2008

Club Perili was our 5th sunsail holiday, because it's a long transfer we have been putting it off even though it's been reconmended. The 3 hours was worth it, we got there in the dark with the sunsail staff showing us to our rooms.
In the morning we got to check the place out my son went to kids club and we went to the beach. Beautiful! The club is very turkish which gives it that magical feeling it doesn't feel like a hotel it feels like a small village. everyone was very friendly (staff and guests) which makes a good atmosphere.
The sailing was great with a few very windy days for the windsurfers was a shame they didn't have wakebroading and water skiing for the less windy days.
The mountain bike guy and the tennis guy were great very entheastic.
My son enjoyed sea urchins club the staff were great.
Our room was large and very clean but the air contitioning was rubbish we were in the main building where the reception is its a shared unit and was not very powerful. It did seem to get better as the week went on.
My biggest complant is the price of the bar. £3.50 for a pint £10,00 for a g & t £3.50 for a ice cream ridiculous! Not only is it expensive but after dinner people go to there rooms to drink there duty frees, the bar is empty so no atmosphere. The bar staff regularly try and charge you wrong so watch what your signing for!!
Overall was a good holiday but will be looking for a alternative for 2009.
