“Lovely setting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2010

The hotel, run by very friendly owners and staff. It is in a beautiful garden setting with a nice, very clean pool. The family room was very large (one of the largest rooms we had on our trip in Turkey), clean, and simply but nicely decorated. Sadly the beds were very uncomfortable. They really need to invest in new mattresses. My other complaint with the family room is that there was only one air conditioner, and despite promises from the staff it did not cool down the master bedroom. One bonus was the brewed coffee at breakfast, this was a rarity only seen at one other hotel during our 4 weeks in Turkey. Wireless access was a minor issue, as with so many Turkish hotels that offer free wireless, connectivity is limited to a small area around the office. I don't know why, it would be so inexpensive to boost the range. I would stay again, but I hope they would have new mattresses by then.

We have recently returned from a very special seven days at the Kilim Hotel, Dalyan.

A family wedding brought 40 of us together occupying the whole hotel.

As a setting for the ceremony the hotel’s riverside situation, across from the magnificent 4th century BC Kaunos rock tombs carved in the cliff face, just cannot be bettered.

Hosts Becky and Emrah and their team could not be faulted for their tireless efficiency, enthusiasm and attention to detail in order to make the event an unqualified success. They were unfailingly friendly and so obviously wanted to enjoy the event themselves.
From advice on the requirements necessary to comply with Turkish law, through choreographing the ceremony, including translating the proceedings, providing a magnificent Turkish feast and evening’s entertainment, no detail was too small.

The Kilim is situated about 400m from the centre of Dalyan, the road into the town being lined with great restaurants. The hotel itself is clean and unpretentious, providing a basic breakfast of cheese, eggs, salad, melon, jams and that wonderful Turkish bread. The rooms are of a good size and air conditioning is available [extra charge]. The bar seemed to be open as long as guests wished it, with us that meant very late! An honesty system operates if staff are away.

The hosts willingly arrange trips, the hotel’s jetty being an ideal starting point for boat outings to the various local attractions. Diving trips out and snorkelling demonstrations in the swimming pool were offered during our week.

Highly recommended.

Lovely family run hotel, it's a home from home.

You can't go wrong in Dalyan, and you'll get a friendly welcome at the Kilim from Becky & Emrah.

I'll be back there soon.

Having travelled widely in Turkey and experienced nothing but genuine hospitality and kindness from Istanbul to Antalya I can honestly say that the most relaxing and enjoyable stay I have ever had was in the Kilim Hotel, Dalyan. It's just far enough away from the town centre to be calm and quiet at night, but close enough to walk even for little ones. The hotel garden enjoys unparalleled views of the famous rock tombs. Children will enjoy swimming in the lovely warm river and jumping off the fishing platforms where the wild turtles and duck families come to visit. There is a kitchenette by the river where you can help yourself to drinks and snacks - the hotel operates an honesty tab policy - very useful in the languorous afternoons. The owners organise boat trips to local beaches where you can catch crab on lines and barbeque them - everything is very reasonably priced so you can fill your days canyoning or diving or just relax by the river.
The rooms in the hotel have much higher ceilings than most Turkish hotels and are much more spacious - a detail, but it makes them airier and more comfortable during hot weather. The bathrooms are very modern and immaculately clean and there is plentiful hot water with good pressure.
The food is superb, especially for the weekly barbeques, I've never seen so much grilled chicken and the choice of salads is incredible.
Finally, Becky and Emreh, the owners are really lovely people, helpful, kind and knowledgeable and both very fine musicians - if you're lucky they'll put on a show!

The risk of recommending this amazing hotel too highly is that the spacious and clean rooms fill up and we cant get booked! We visit here twice a year when the finances allow and so far have had 10 trips to the Kilim, the first being our daughter's wedding which Becky and Emrah organised SO well. It's a TOP spot to tie the knot!
However, what Becky and Emrah offer is a unique experience that sets this hotel apart and above others.
Becky's great cooking, Emrah's BBQ- ed freshly caught fish, Adem's chilled beers, fabulous massages on the roof top.......pilates and exercise classes for the fit and not so fit..........boat trips to the beach ( 8km of all sand and NO hassle at all from folks selling stuff).
You feel part of the family when you arrive and their warmth and caring is apparent.
This is one very special holiday destination that we keep returning to.

I have stayed in the Kilim a number of times and will again in 2010. If you are looking for a relaxing place to stay then I would highly recommend this hotel. It is run by a wonderful couple who always give you a warm welcome. The hotel is basic, not tv's or phones in the rooms, (this is one of the things that I love about the Kilim), the rooms are airy and it is also spotless. The staff are so friendly you will feel like you are staying with friends. If Dalyan is your choice then go to the Kilim.

My wife and I had been to Dalyan, on a number of occassions. However we had never stayed at the Kilim before. We arrived at the hotel in the small hours, only the recepionist was there to hand over our key. I was a bit disapointed as we couldnt even get a glass of water, or anything as once he had shown us our room he was off. I can undrstand this as the staff do work long ours. However as we were arriving so late, perhaps a bottle of water in our room may have been a good idea. well thats the negative stuff out the way. The rest of the holiday was brilliant. the area across the road is perfect, for a relaxing time. Becki and her husband and all the staff were brilliant.
Hope the wedding went well.

thanks again
