Everthing written before re Calbis is all true, It wonderfully friendly, lovely other guests, from all over europe, and absolutely beautiful gardens. and the most friendly staff, owners you have ever met. Don't miss out on the weekly BBQ and ALL of Captain Alii and captain Phylis boat trips. When we arrived, so many people were on their 4th 5th trips to the hotel, after a short while I understood why, you will fall in love with Dalayan, and want to visit again, and why not to Calbis? the perfect friendly hotel.
Looking forward to another visit, Thank you Gokmen, and Father Mr.Erdogan Mihcioglu Ebru, Boris Mehmet1, Mehmet 2 and all the wonderful staff I must get to know next time

Having read all the wonderful reviews regarding the hotel "Holiday Calbis" we decided that this was the place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary, and we were not disappointed, we could not have chosen better thanks to Tripadvisor. I will approach this write-up a little bit different from others and not go on about all the praise worthy points regarding the hotel, and believe me all the good reports written are true. Instead I will address some of the previous moaners, and of course you always get them wherever they go. I personally could only find one negative which is highlighted at the end of this report, but firstly a big thank you to Gokmen, and his charming father Mr.Erdogan Mihcioglu for providing such a lovely hotel for their guests to enjoy, a phrase used often, but in this case very true "a little gem of a hotel"........they are both very proud, but not in a boastful way, but proud to be giving guests a wonderful environment to enjoy their vacation. Mr.Mihcioglu Senior is very proud of his gardens, and can sometimes be seen delivering to bar staff, lemons and grapefruit freshly picked from his trees. Okay, to address previous moaners: (1) "The hotel doesn't like you bringing food and drink in from outside". There isn't one hotel in the world that would welcome that ......remedy, stay in an apartment or stay in England next time. (2) "No fridge in the bedroom" What, so that the hotel can pay for the electricity to keep beer cool that you have smuggled in from the supermarket ? (3) The hotel is overpriced compared to others in Dalyan.........really ? have you seen most of the others in Dalyan ? I have. If you want to stay in a hotel where the management really care, and you want comfort and luxurious surroundings, isn't it worth paying just a little bit extra ? Anyway. let us just compare..........we travelled to Hawaii a few years ago to find paradise and lush greenery around the swimming pool, the cost of the vacation was just slightly under £7000 and 24 hours travelling from Yorkshire via Heathrow in London, only to discover that paradise had been ruined by Americanization........plenty of coke and Mc.Donald's. We paid Gokmen just £630 for two weeks in a very large family room with two balconies and a pool view, we felt almost embarrassed to pass over such a little for so much. With our MP3 players plugged in listening to Hawaiian music and the lushness around the swimming pool, it was like being back in Hawaii, but at a fraction of the cost, and only 4 hours from the UK. Moan number (4) "The beer is slightly dearer than other places" Sorry but you are in a quality hotel, and with 250 restaurants in Dalyan you will probably be out most of the time sampling them, so isn't it worth saying thank you to the hotel for providing such a lovely environment by having a few beers without moaning ? We have fallen in love with Dalyan, and it's a place that we would like to visit over and over again, but I must confess, and I hope Gokmen doesn't read this, that I spent the first week going around all the other hotels looking for somewhere nearer the town for future visits to Dalyan. The reason being that I had both hips replaced last year, and walking isn't my favourite hobby anymore............there are a lot of hotels either nearer or in the town, but how on earth could you contemplate staying in them after the "Calbis" In any case, my problem was solved as the hotel provides free transport into town at 7pm every evening, and a lot of restuarants gave us free lifts back to the hotel after purchasing drinks and meals from them, having said that, I still walked to town and back on many occassions, and whichever route you take, either directly or along the river walk, both are very pleasant, and would be a breeze for all you fit ones. Incidentally, we recommend the "China Town" restaurant on the way into town, they cook Chinese food better than the Chinese. Unlike Hisaronu which is made up of 99% British holidaymakers, Dalyan has multi-national guests which make it more interesting, and all getting along really well, no silly rivalries like in Spain and other places. We met a lot of nice people from Scotland, all very good company, all very funny, and all up for a laugh, although you might need the services of receptionist Ebru as interpreter. Ebru speaks better English than us English. I was very worried before going on holiday that you could only pay bar and restaurant bills at the end of the holiday as I was caught something rotten in America, but there is absolutely nothing to worry about in the 100% honest "Calbis" and the system is very simple, for example, lunchtime have beers, wine, and meals, take your card which is applicable to your room, the bar staff zip it through the till, and you get a receipt shown, it's almost like being in an all inclusive where you don't have to carry money with you.........at any time you can request from Ebru a print off to keep. Regarding the hotel, I personally thought that there was nothing that you could do to improve it, but Gokmen is a perfectionist, and instead of sitting with his feet up during the winter, he is going to be very busy changing the layout of the kitchen, the restaurant, and moving the bar to a different location, he is also having all the wooden loungers replaced with more modern ones. We travelled the last week in September and first week in October, and what a lovely time to go, so peaceful, with a choice of lounger around the pool at anytime of the day, and the pool seemed to be for oranmental purposes only, with no screaming children dive bombing.......absolute heaven.....and we were still putting on factor 25 during our last day. We didn't encounter any mosquitoes at this time of year, but still used plenty of Sin Kov as a precaution. Oh, I nearly forgot the one negative regarding the hotel..........no plug in the sink for when you have a shave ..............what a disaster ! ............remedy.......take my own next time. I'm glad I've got that out of the way, now I can join the ranks of the moaners. Summary......will we return ? YOU BET........try and keep us away ! Review by Peter & Kathy Hurrell

Cleanest hotel we have stayed in, the whole two weeks spent at the calbis was the icing on the cake for what was a great holiday in dalyan. From the hotel it was only a 15 min stroll into centre of dalyan where there were plenty of bars and places to eat , from takeaway kebab to typical turkish. If you want a great steak try chef steak house on the left on the way to dalyan centre, best steak ive had in a long time.
For some excellent home cooking try the small pancake house on the right next to the car rental shop, there is usually a black board outside, you go through to the back to eat.
There is no menu, you choose from a meze of starters and then your main, there is usually three on offer, we ate there on several occasions the lamb and sea bass were excellent. The poeple of dalyan are are lovely people and work really hard to make sure your holiday is one to remember.Oh by the way make sure you buy plenty of sin kov and dont go out at night without spraying, the mozzis being the only thing to give you hassel, but only if you dont use the repellent.Looking forward to going back to dalyan and the hotel holiday calbis.

We were so impressed with this little gem of a hotel, set 5 mins from Dalyan town. We arrived early hours of the morning, and were shown to our room by a very quiet & pleasant guy at reception. We unpacked and ventured down to the poolside bar -(and passed the most amazing aroma of flowers, very strong scent - gorgeous- which we were later told were called Melissa, and were chosen by the owner as they were named after his daughter)and were met by Boris who was the 'entertainer' type barman, and he sent to town for food for us as we were starving! The pool and surrounding gardens were magnificently lit at night, and we were star-struck by the place. We stayed for a few drinks and a chat to Boris, then headed off to bed. In the morning, the view from our balcony was phenominal...as we looked directly onto the pool and gardens. We were very eager to get down and sit by the pool. We knew breakfast would be served, so we made our way down to the dining area, and were not disappointed by the array of food, and ate hungrily.
There are many kittens and a couple of resident dogs paddering around the hotel, (as there are in the whole of Dalyan restaurants!) but they are no problem and are just very cute.
We wanted to chat to other visitors to get out bearings and decide where to go/ what to plan for our weeks visit etc. We did this by the pool, and met some very friendly people who were all more than satisfied with the hotel andf Dalyan itself. We gathered this info and set off for the town. We met the Tour Rep for Thompson (Gill) who was brilliant and booked some visits with her. One trip was the Jeep Experience, which was fantastic....highly recommend this, as you are taken to see the real Dalyan and hillside areas, Turtle Beach etc and have such fun along the way (and lots of laughs!). Another trip was the Snorkelling Trip - amazing, there was only three of us at first on the journey, where the captain stopped the boat a few times for us to swim and snorkel. Then we met a party of ramblers at a beach who joined us for a Bbq and another stop for a snorkel into the caves etc. Fab day out! The other trip we booked was for the Moonlight Mud Baths - again amazing! Gill (tour rep) joined us and showed us the ropes. It was nice and quiet, unlike the day trips to the Mud Baths. Great experience, even though strange and smelly! We swam in the lake briefly, and had a bbq on the boat, with the lights of Dalyan twinkling in the moonlight - gorgeous!

We also went for a hammam in a local Turkish Baths - this was amazing! They were friendly, and it was great fun...added to the fact that you felt scrubbed clean, massaged and relaxed after - and very cheep!

We went out for a meal every night as the hotel didnt have a restaurant (though you could order a snack meal by the pool bar) - but realised why the hotel did this, as the restaurants were very good, all about the same price, and such variety it was fun to eat out.
The member of staff that definantely made our holiday at Holiday Calbis enjoyable was Ebru who seemed to run the hotel (but was receptionist / manager / interpreter etc etc) - many thanks to her for being such fun and very good at her job!

We met the owner Gockman (not sure how you spell his name) who was extremely pleasant - and asked him if we could see the family suites / suites that were available in the hotel - he kindly got a member of staff to show us. These would be well worth paying the extra £5 per night for as they had fridge and tv - with sofa/chairs, and one suite had four balconies!

The market is on a Monday and is so well worth a visit. Be aware that the copy products (as in D&G jeans etc) are being flogged by the market sellers, and you have to bargain for a good price. But we tended to buy more traditional Turkish goods, and these were very cheep (rugs, candle lanterns etc) The Turkish Delight on sale is lovely!

If we visit Dalyan again, we would definately book direct with the Holiday Calbis hotel, and book the suite with the four balconies overlooking the pool, and then pay for our flights seperately.
From what we gathered from other travellers, Dalyan is one of the best areas to visit, as it is less touched by the teenage tourist types, (no entertainement for them - thankfully).
One of the many good things about Hotel Calbis was that there were no teenagers / children staying ( one very quiet baby) whilst we were there. This was good as we had left our teenagers behind to go on holiday, and didn't want any, as we were having a break from them!
The gardens in this hotel must be talked about by every visitor, I have never seen such well managed beautiful plants/shrubs/trees in my life. Amazing!
No other hotel in Dalyan comes anywhere near this hotel, as we looked around at many different venues, and we realised very quickly that it was well worth taking the effort to look on Trip Advisor before we booked.
10 out of 10 for this hotel, THE HOLIDAY CALBIS -DALYAN -you would not be disappointed with your visit.

This was my second visit to Calbis. I normally never go back to the same place but this hotel and the resort of Dalyan is so good I had to return.
Gokman's wee hotel is one of the best we have ever stayed in. This year we has a top floor large family room which was clean ,spacious and bright. The breakfast , service and facilities were all as good as we remembered
This year when we stayed in Aug the only downside was the lack of parasols and fact people had started putting towels on the sunbeds at the crack of dawn (6 -7 sunbeds at a time) without using them. I believe Gokman resolved this later in the season. There were also one or two very arrogant families who noisily dominated the pool and boat trip with no consideration for others. I supposed that what happens when the word gets around about a good hotel.... it attracts more people and not always the friendly types!
Dalyan itself was getting more commercial- "truckers breakfasts" etc Sad as the attraction of this resort was it retained its turkish charm.
The mozzies were worse this year as it was so humid at the begining of August- sin kov did not work neither did the lemon cologne !! So you just have to grin and bear them
As others have said if you go do Ali's boat trip so much better than the others you can go on. Also have fun bartering at the market! You can also hire mopeds good /cheap fun
The turkish people in Dalyan are so hospitable and friendly. PLEASE support the couple who run the shop near to the hotel, they work so hard and were so nice !

We stayed here for a week in September on a B abd B basis. Thed room was a bit small as was the balcony and the bathroom was a but cramped. Having said that it was fine for a week if a little pricy compared to some. The staff were very friendly, the food good and the pool area and gardens were really nice. Generally quiet and relaxing at all times although the misic from the pool bar could be a bit loud at times and because of the quietness all round music could be a bit intrusive in the late evening - it usually stopped at 12pm.
The hotel was spotless but if you don't like dogs and cats wandering about Dalyan may not be the place for you. Dalyan is a quiet backwater at that time of the year and certainly worth a visit but go soon because it may not be quiet for much longer as more development is inevitable.
