“A wonderful place to relax”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This was by far our best hotel experience during our two week tour of the coast of Turkey. Dalyan is a very charming, small holiday town located about 10 km from one of the most beautiful beaches in Turkey, Iztuzu beach – with no hotels nearby, and a single concession stand it is the way many beaches used to be but sadly no longer are – the sand goes on for ever with water so clear you can see fish very clearly on the bottom when over 15’ deep. The very new and up to date Dalyan Resort hotel is located on the banks of the Dalyan River with just 42 rooms ensuring the gardens and pool area are very uncrowded – the grounds were very quiet, private and calm for those like us wanting to “get away from it all”. The pool was crystal clear and quite exquisite surrounded by palm trees and plenty of shade, quite idyllic. The cost of our one night stay was very reasonable, but with the excellent dinner and breakfast all part of the one night charge, it was a bargain. The waiter insisted on asking my wife “why?” when she ordered a beverage, flirting? Certainly all the staff made the guests remember them and have a most enjoyable stay.

Very comfortable friendly and clean resort, food ranged from BBQ's to kebab's salads and beautiful deserts you could not resist, omelet for breakfast etc.. All very safe food and no need to worry what is Safe to eat. The restaurant manager was very friendly and hard working along with all his team, who tirelessly carried all the table out every night so that everyone could eat outside by the pool.
Eric the hotel rep went out of his way to make sure we were happy and went out of his way to
Organise our sight seeing trip's, he had a very good sense of humour.
If you decide to sample the Dalyan you really must have a Turkish bath not expensive and a real treat and the young lady who pampered us was so nice.
You must ask Eric for a boat trip were you catch your own crab, you then go for a little sail where you are taken to a quiet beach for a swim while your crab is BBQ and lunch is served on the boat.
Followed by watching the turtles that was truly a wonderful experience they are so lovely.
And don't forget to have a mud bath bit smelly but fun!
This was our first trip to Turkey and it won't be our last 10/10 for the Dalyan

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor, as they are near to pool, bar and restaurant though I think there are some...

I have been to Dalyan many times before with my husband, and can honestly say this is one of the best hotels in Dalyan. Ten minutes walk to the bars and cafes, but a nice walk or you can walk along the river, everywhere there are wonderful views. The rooms are stylish and very clean. There are no balconies, but ground floor rooms have pool or garden terrace. We were on 1st floor in a deluxe room but we loved it. The staff are calm and patient, very nice people. The hotel setting is hard to describe, next to the river with its own boat. Free service to the beach, where turtles breed. Just lying by the river is a holiday worth taking. It is still a working river so still some thing to keep you occupied. Magnificent views of the famous Tombs. Blue sky constantly, not one single cloud perfect temperature. No children under 16 though, so not really suitable for young families. Food good, although we only had the breakfasts so that we could enjoy the lovely places to eat. Highly recommend Caretta Carreta, although we didnt have a bad meal anywhere. The Art Gallery for lovely cakes, coffee and wonderful atmospere. The Turkish currency is very favourable at the moment, so it is not expensive to eat out. We went to relaxe and chill out and we did just that. I would also like to praise our tour operator Anatolia Sky, everything went to plan, Nick the representative was charming and knew his stuff a very good rep. All in all a wonderful holiday, Turkey as we knew it 10 years ago, lovely.
Salsa

Room Tip: The Spa may be wonderful, but we did not use it.

We recently returned from a 10 day break at the Dalyan Resort. We were a party of 5 with ages spanning 9 - 86 years and we all had a wonderful time. We had 3 rooms (well appointed and scrupulously clean) overlooking the pool, each with an outside seating area dripping in honeysuckle, wisteria and bougainvillea. The planting in the gardens and around the pool was beautiful and provided plenty of shade if required. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the jetties where you could relax on comfortable chairs, shaded by willow trees and enjoy the scenery, passing boats and just enough turtle sitings to make each one exciting. Bar service too!
For wildlife enthusiasts we saw many large turtles, many, many small ones around the base of the jetties, a water snake, bats, storks, little twittery birds in the reeds, owls, raptors, ducks and two frogs who took to the hotel pool in the evening. And endless fish to feed bread to.
We took the hotel boat to the beach several times and joined the trip to the mud baths twice. We also enjoyed a trip into the mountains and swimming at the base of a waterfall. These trips were organised and accompanied by Erkan, whose help and friendship contributed so much to our holiday's enjoyment.
For us, the location of the hotel was perfect, just the right distance from Dalyan itself. The hotel and everything in it is super attractive and the food was amazing.
In short, the whole place is perfect; location, style of hotel, the trips and help that are available, the gardens, the food, everything. But most of all..... the family that owns the hotel and their wonderful staff.
Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for these people. When our grandson's laptop gave up on playing his favourite game, Ardur, the son of the owner, downloaded the game onto his own very swish laptop and allowed our grandson free access to it for the rest of the week. Many thanks to him. Also to Mutlu on reception for giving lifts back from town, seeing grandson safely back to his room at night and general helpfulness. Thanks to Erkan as mentioned before, an instant friend. More special people - Ali, Kadir, the bar man, the captain of the boat (who searched the whole hotel for us on our last day to return a pair of shoes) and the others whose names I regret I didn't get.
On our last day we checked out of our rooms late morning, left our luggage in the luggage room and spent the day on the beach. On returning to the hotel we showered in the spa, enjoyed our last meal at the poolside and settled our account. While we waited for our taxi we were served with complimentary tea and soft drinks, had a chat with the owner about the organic fruit and vegetables he grows for the restaurant and were then waved off by several staff members.
Forgot to say that we did the 12 islands trip – not to be missed. Our only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer and visit some other attractions. I would have liked to go to the turtle hospital/sanctuary and to the ancient town.
We’ll have to go again!

Room Tip: Ground level and overlooking the pool would be my choice.

We were looking for a place to relax, but we also wanted a place of interest that was unspoilt by tourism. Our stay here provided all that we could have hoped for.
The Dalyan Resort Hotel is a relatively new build but is well judged and certainly not a stack of concrete boxes. Perhaps because it is not directly on the sea Dalyan missed out on the explosion of tourism that has blighted other places and then after being designated part of a sort of National Park has planning rules that have ensured development such as it is, is sympathetic and low rise. From the point of view of the hotel this ensures beautiful views directly onto and across the river. Most immediately you can see the hills in which the ancient city of Caunos sits-from the hotel you can see the city walls, the Roman Baths and a little of the ruins of the Acropolis which is perched to your left. To the right, little more than a quarter of a mile away and viewable from part of the grounds, the facades of the Lycian Rock tombs are the signature monument of Dalyan.
One could happily spend hours just in the grounds of the hotel; although it is not large, as others have commented, curiously the hotel never seems crowded, whether beside or in the pool, at dinner or resting under the pomegranate trees. We were concerned about children under six not being allowed to stay, but infact my seven and ten year old were treated by the staff with affection and both children were very happy.
We were also concerned it was not directly on or walkable to the beach but we shouldn't have been; the free boat every other day was a pleasure in itself and if required, by walking into Dalyan there is a frequent shuttle to the other side of the beach (cost 8 lira return) which is also a good way of seeing a little of the interior.
The beach itself is lovely; the sand stretches, the water is clear, lots of fish and it's home to the nesting turtles. And turtles were a theme of the trip- in the sea, in the river, even a baby in the hotel grounds which had wandered out of the river; and well worth a visit, the turtle hospital which is most easily accessed by the shuttle bus which drops you at its doorstep.
Alternatively, hidden amongst the hills,a trip to the ancient city of Caunos is directly across the river. Two ways of getting to it; either by asking at reception to be rowed across ( I'd suggest straight after breakfast at about 8. 30am - which is when the site opens and is the coolest part of the day) or by going into Dalyan where they will row you across for 4 lira return. The site was in part being excavated when we visited but almost all of it was still open; the fantastic amphitheatre, the temple of Aphrodite, the 5th century church and Roman Baths. For those who love their history, this is a magical place.
Another trip, the mud baths, which my children loved and the '12 island boat trip' which was great for scuba diving. These can be organised by Ercan who is staff at the hotel and is very helpful; Ercan, Ali who organises the grounds, the lady who provides massages, the cleaners and the waiters, were all very good as was the main man at reception. My one and only complaint during my stay, that the only pillow provided on each bed was too small was dealt with promptly.
The food was outstanding; we never ate out.
Our stay here was all we had hoped for.

We stayed at the hotel in August with our two teenage boys having booked via an agent. We don't have much to add to the comments already mentioned here as it is as good as everyone says! We had two rooms facing the pool and found them very clean and functional. The food was excellent and plentiful. We liked the fact there was no enforced day time or evening entertainment so it was up to us to make our own entertainment. There was free wifi in both rooms which was a little intermittent at peak morning and evening times but it was on enough to catch up on news etc.

We used the free boat to the beach once - it was very pleasant but it was so hot that we only went once. If you are asked if you want to see turtles at the beach, personally I'd say no. We were charged 5 lira each, but it was not the cost of it that bothered me. It was more the fact that a turtle is encouraged to come to the surface by throwing crabs on fishing lines at a particular point near the beach where lots of boats congregate and jostle to get a view of it. We actually saw more turtle sitings just on the way to the beach and not in such artificial surroundings.

I had a Turkish bath and facial at the hotel. It was a nice experience and the girl running the beauty room was lovely but I was not prepared for the informality of it - at one point I was left in a room with no towel and very little on, and not totally convinced that anyone might just wander in. Not a huge problem and probably me just being a little conservative but if you're shy, be prepared!!

One other reviewer mentions paying for your bar bill as you go. Great advice. We had the odd cocktail, water from the mini bar and a few drinks with our meal and it soon racked up. Settling up half way through the week meant we didn't have a huge bill to try to reconcile at the end.

In summary, a nice place to stay with great service in a peaceful location. One last thing though, do watch out for insects. I'm not sure if they were mozzies or sand flies, but something took a liking to us on the first few nights whilst sitting outside and we needed bite relief and insect spray after that.

We stayed here as a couple and loved it! Just off the beaten track enough from all of the hustle and bustle of the main town (not that it was very busy!), which was also a welcome walk after having consistently great meals from the resort.

We would gladly stay here again. The staff cant do enough for you, the rooms cleaned and spotless every day and the pool and views were lovely.

If you want a relaxing stay you really wont go wrong here. I read some people having trouble with mozzies - we didn't at all, but then we did spray every night just in case.

There is a small gym too with basic equipment, the baths looked nice too but we didn't try those...

Enjoy!
