We have just returned from a week at this hotel. We realised that this was probably the last week of the season so maybe our comments should be taken in that context but we found the choice of food available at both breakfast and dinner very limited, especially as they relied on doing some of the cooking outdoors and it rained on 4 of the days we were there. We would definitely not recommend booking half board as there are many excellent restaurants in the town and they were much better value for money. Also for part of our stay a group of Americans were also staying and a large number of tables in the restaurant were reserved for them, the rest of the guests were sqashed into a small section of the restaurant and were expected to share tables. When we complained the staff agreed that it was unreasonable but did nothing about it. The heavy rain during one night caused our bedroom roof to leak and we awoke to find 2 large puddles either side of our bed and nobody seemed very concerned about this. We had to ask several times before toiletries were replenished and we found a dirty sock belonging to a previous guest in our wardrobe. On the plus side staff on reception were very helpful when we asked for advice about places to visit as we had hired a car.

We have just returned from a week at Dalyan resort. The hotel is situated in a peaceful area of Dalyan, we found the standard room comfortable albeit on the small side. It did however, have lots of storage space. It is probably 5 star for turkey. I guess I would rate it as 3 to 4. We had a room with a terrace overlooking the river and scrubland which made it quieter than those overlooking the pool area and restaurant. Housekeeping was excellent and our bed was decorated with petals and the towels being folded into flower shapes one more than one occassion. However I agree with the previous report, the food was disappointing. There was very little hot authentic turkish fayre on offer. Most of the hotplate food was luke warm. And the moneyless system is not the best. We didn't know how much we were paying for the drinks at night. I agree the nearby restaurants were serving much nicer tastier traditional food, hence we also ate out some evenings. The free boat trips to the beach went every other day and there was also trip to the thermal baths costing 15 TYL. The boat trips are worth going on its a lovely relaxing way to travel. There are plenty of tracks to explore in the area and we hired bikes from the centre of dalyan total cost £12 for 2.5 days. Make sure you try before you hire! We covered most of the valley and enjoyed this very much. It was nice to see the other side of the area and was surprised of the amount of agriculture, from cotton fields, vegetable crops to small holdings with cattle, sheep and poultry. There is a tourist information centre in Dalyan it is situted opposite a cash machine in the centre of the town. However, we found out most of our information about the area from locals. All in all we had a relaxing holiday with variety and are planning a trip back to the area next year. Beware of Dalaman airport prices £8 for small bottle of water and juice!!!

This hotel has a lovely setting by the river. We had a suite which accomodated 2 children in a separate part of the room. The shower was fun but cleaning up the water from the poorly fitting doors wasn't. The staff were accomodating and friendly. The pool was large and there is a splash pool for young kids. However it is worth noting that the main pool is quite deep for kids under 12. The food was fine although I have had far more choice for both breakfast and evening mealin previous visits to Turkey. The food on offer was delicious - my only complaint was that despite being advised there would be plenty of choice for vegetarians it only extended to the cold salad range which meant evening meals were disappointing - for us. We ate in the hotel twice before deciding we could fare far better outside. We stayed on a half board basis which was only a difference between b&b of £6 for the 4 of us that's £1.50 each per night.
The hotel operates a cashless policy which means recalling everything you have ever had during your stay when it comes to settle the bill. I would have liked a reciept for each transaction and avoid any disputes.
The hotel has a boat which takes you to the turtle beach some days. They will ask the local taxi boat to stop if it is a day they don't.
The surrounding resturants are of a suberb standard. We ate in the "Barbaque garden" which is a short walk from the hotel. We found it very difficult to pass Memhet - such a lovely man. The kids loved the garden which had a hammock, tree houses and swings to keep them amused.

My biggest complaint was the fact that you were not allowed to take anything back to the hotel ie drinks and snacks. This alone would prevent me returning.

Dalyan as a resort is perfect for getting away and this hotel is ideally situated. I felt the hotel could have given more information on the walking in the area and other activities that were available. We found out by word of mouth and by then our holiday was just about over.

“A perfect holiday”

Dalyan Resort

Sep 27, 2007

We stayed at this hotel from 12th to 26th Sept. 2007 and would certainly return. The temperature was perfect for us and the hotel was quiet as school holidays were over. The only criticism we can find is that the beds are just a fraction too firm. We flew with Goldtrail on Onur Airlines from Exeter airport but booked the hotel independently through Kaunos tours. Next time, knowing the place now, we will book direct with the hotel. We were quoted a high price for a suite but when we arrived at the hotel we saw that the price difference between a room and a suite was only 20 YTL per night, so we immediately upgraded to a suite and it was well worth it. We had a very modern walk-in shower and both sitting room and bedroom were air-conditioned, though someone does need to explain the controls to you!
The food was plentiful, some of it 'international' and some of it Turkish and there was a very wide ranging choice at breakfast and at dinner, both of which are buffet style. The staff are very attentive, work extremely hard and are smiling, polite, friendly and helpful. The setting for the hotel, right beside the river, is absolutely beautiful with a wonderful view from the side garden across to the rock tombs. The river is certainly busy - something ecologists are going to have to address - but it was never disruptively so and we didn't feel the river boats' engines were intrusive at all. They all stop at around 6 every evening. Hiring a car is a good idea, at least for part of the time and we hired through Kaunos tours who have the Europcar concession. Automatics were not available through them.
Food in local restaurants was extremely good with some being absolutely outstanding. Because the whole resort of Dalyan is on a river, taking mosquito protection is necessary but although we got a few bites, there was nothing extreme to worry about. I would just suggest that guests tip generously when leaving. Local wages are low by our standards and the staff work hard, some of them doing long hours. Some senior waiting staff, for example, earn only £200 per month, so tips are greatly appreciated.

“Lovely hotel with a fantastic location”

Dalyan Resort

We have just returned home from a lovely relaxing week staying at the Dalyan Resort Hotel (one week was really not enough!).

We arrived at 5.30 a.m. and were quickly checked in and shown to our room. The room, although compact, had everything you could need and was quite modern in design and very clean. After a few hours sleep we ventured for breakfast and get our bearnings. The pool and the hotel grounds are fantastic, plenty of loungers around the pool and lots of places to sit away from the pool if you wanted to - I especially liked the decked area overlooking the river where you could lie back and watch the boats passing by on their way to Istuzu beach (Turtle Beach). The view in the evening when the rock tombs are illuminated is quite something and it is lovely how they set the tables out around the pool in the evenings, lit by candles (very romantic!). We were booked on a bed and breakfast basis but ate on two nights in the hotel - the food was very good. There was a varied selection for breakfast with a chef available to cook you omlette, pancakes and eggs should you wish.

The food served in the restaurants in Dalyan itself was of a very good standard too (had researched places to eat and glad we did as all recommended restaurants were excellent - especially Ali ba bas, Caretta Caretta, Ramazan (Han), Deniz Yildilzi (Star Fish) and Donmez.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and could not do enough for you. The rooms were kept spotless, being cleaned every day with fresh bedding and lovely soft white towels - they also proved you with pool towels too.

The hotel operates a courtesy boat to take you to the turtle beach daily, leaving at 2.00 p.m. and returning at around 5.30 p.m. - well worth doing!

All in all it was an excellent holiday, not only becasue of the accommodation, Dalyan is a beautiful place with lots to see and do from hisory to nature and lots, lots more - I would definately recommend a jeep safari, which are run daily. At the end of the day you will have got very wet (at least ten times) but the view from the top of the mountain over the lake and Dalyan delta is quite outstanding.

I would definitely recommed this accomodation but more so Dalyan itself - a wonderful place and definitely a bit of paradise.
