On recommendation from friends, we went to the Assos Park hotel and unlike the other reviewer we enjoyed our experience very much!
We left Istanbul by public long distance bus heading down to Ephesus. Assos is somewhere in the middle between Istanbul and Ephesus so it makes for a nice stop over for a night or two (we stayed for 2 nights).
The Assos Park Hotel is a family place so if you have kids, you and they will enjoy it. The hotel manager is a delightful man who drove us himself to the Site of the Assos ruins, when we got hustled later in the day by a so called “tour guide/taxi driver”, the manager called the owner of the tour agency and let him have it for trying to abuse tourist.
The food was fantastic and the staff was very accommodating….the staff does not speak much English so you need to ask for the manager who will jump hoops to make you happy.
We had a very nice room overlooking the pool and a wide view of olive trees all around.
Many of the guests are educated Turkish families who keep coming back again and again…..so if you really want to be in contact with Turkish people (as opposed to being in a Western resort with other tourists) this is the right place.
