An excellent hotel with excellent facilities and food, right in the centre of the city. There is a good supermarket but it is a bit of a treck, a short cab ride is the best solution. Supermercardo.

This historic building is gorgeous and centrally located in the very center of the city, next to the cathedral. The rooms are well appointed with a distinctive decor. It has a spectacular covered atrium with lots of character and atmosphere. There is parking below the hotel, an absolute must in this city, which has been redesigned for pedestrian use all along its historic center. Parking was 14 euros a day. Travelers may need some savvy to access the center of Avila, a medieval town with narrow and winding streets. One must enter the city through a gate with limited access for hotels and businesses only. Apart from having to solve this problem, once the traveler is IN the city, this hotel stands above average. Staff was courteous. We did not use its breakfast or dinign facilities and cannot report on its quality.
My husband and I stayed in Avila for just 2 nights at this Hotel. What an impressive internal courtyard ! which was very peaceful and cool on a hot summer's afternoon. We enjoyed a cool drink there which was not excessively more expensive that in the bars in Avila. We requested a room overlooking the Catherdral when we booked on the Internet and were pleased to find that the bedroom had a lovely view from the french window/small balcony overlooking the Cathedral and plaza. The room was very large for European standards, the bed was gigantic and the decor and complimetary items were superb. The only critism as such was that no drawer space was provided but the 2 shelves in the wardrobe sufficed. The bathroom was a fresh colour of blue and white and was enormous with an array of items provided, from aftershave to shoe horn . The staff were pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the breakfast which was included in the price and provided all types of food, even items for people with dietetic needs. The hotel and room were very clean. The garage was a little expensive but was secure and under the hotel so close at hand for retrieving our luggage. We would definitely stay again and would again request a room overlooking the Cathedral.
This hotel has been beautifully restored, and having a glass of wine or a cup of coffee on the patio, where you can look at the beautiful galleries of this old palacio is a real pleasure.
Our room did not have views, as the window was high up in the ceiling, but the size was okay, the bed was excellent and the bathroom was magnificent: very spacious and beautifully tiled in white and blue.
Breakfast was very good on the first morning, but the second morning I had the impression that the pastry was not quite fresh.
The only thing we have missed is a room where you can sit without having to order drinks, just to play a game of cards or read a book. But all in all this hotel is, considering a double room breakfast included only costs 100 euro a night, good value for money.
This hotel is rated as a three star hotel but is as good as some four star hotels we stayed in. Excellent service, facilities,etc.. Employees helpful but did have trouble understanding english, however, they worked with us and we got answers to our questions. Parking available under the hotel at about a 50% higher rate but that was worth it as the option was to park outside the city.
