Stayed seven nights and was sad to leave at the end! Korona made you feel like you were staying with your imaginary rich uncle - well taken care of, yet with a homey (albeit upscale) feel. Went to Romania to attend my friends' wedding in Sighisoara and was very happy (in retrospect) that all the hotels in the old town were booked, so I stayed at the Korona Hotel just a five to seven minute walk away. This is probably my favorite hotel of all time; not just in Romania but of the 20 countries I've visited to date. The staff is incredible; sweet, helpful, and always friendly. The staff helped me find a car rental service, arranged for immediate laundry service (despite my late request), and were always happy to engage in a conversation with me. I travel alone almost all the time and I find that employees don't always bother with the chit-chat, so for me friendly conversation with the locals is a solid plus. The Business Executive rooms are, essentially, small apartments minus the kitchen. I had a fantastic view of the old town, which all my friends have asked for, because the vantage point is unique (see attached photos). Beds are comfortable. Restaurant is fantastic; breakfasts are complete and dinner options are generous, as are the helpings. They prepared great classic Transylvanian dishes, embracing the local cuisine rather than selling out to foreign favorites. If you can, save room for dessert and get the boiled dumplings with the wild forest berries and sour creme. I wish I ordered that one more time before leaving! While in Sighi, because of the wedding dynamic/running errands, I visited three other rooms at the other hotels in the old town. They charged the same prices as Korona, but offered MUCH SMALLER rooms, and their breakfasts were puny compared to what Korona offered. So, here's the conclusion... When in Sighi, enjoy the real world outside the Old Town and stay at Korona.
