“A lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

Ani was so welcoming and lovely. We had an apartment (2 double rooms), which was comfortable and clean, with the Best Shower in Transylvania! Delicious breakfast, and nothing is too much trouble for Ani. Ask, and she will do her best to deliver. It is a short and pleasant walk from the centre of town and therefore nice and quiet, which we appreciated. I would definitely recommend it to anyone - and we will certainly go again.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Pension Sighisoara. Ani was a wonderful host and fixed us tasty breakfast every morning (included in the price). She speaks excellent German and English (as well as Romanian.) Our apt was spacious and clean; it had everything that we needed for our stay. We were not expecting to have a kitchen so it was a pleasant surprise to find that we had a small but very sufficient kitchen. The wireless internet worked well with only a few brief times when it was unavailable. The bathroom was large and modern. We appreciated the very quiet location and being away from the center of town. We had a car on this part of our trip so we drove to the center of town each day for our sightseeing, but could have walked it in about 10 - 15 minutes. We will definitely stay here again on our next visit.

Very nice terrace, many flowers.
The hostess is wonderful, you have only to ask and she will try to help you.
If you don t like the dark, tell her to give you a not so dark room ( too small windows)
The other negative point was the lack of AC, as in July it was very hot. However, a ventilator in each room.
Very quiet area, good sleep.

10-15 min to the center, so OK by foot,

We were welcomed into Ani's pension so warmly. I was traveling with my sister and we had asked for a twin room if possible. Ani upgraded us to a little apartment as it was free, so we essentially had a room each, though the upstairs room was too hot to sleep in the first night. The downstairs room was lovely and cool, the whole place was spacious and clean. It had a kitchenette, desk and computer. The wifi was excellent.
Ani asked us what we would like for breakfast and we ate it upstairs on the outside terrace each morning. This was great as we got to meet the other guests. This pension is not located up at the citadel which is the main tourist area - it's a 10 minute walk into the centre of town. We felt that we got a good insight into how locals live here, instead of being just with other tourists.
Ani is a lovely host who gave us good advice on where to eat, where to go to swim (it was very hot!) and how to get around.
The bathroom was modern and clean with two big towels per person (not those tiny hotel towels) and some body wash in the shower.
We asked if we could park the hire car inside which was not a problem (there is space for one car)
We would definitely stay here again as Ani's hospitality was excellent.
Make sure you take cash to pay her - no credit cards!

We selected Pension Sighisoara based on its location in a residential area outside the central citadel and its reasonable rates. We were able to park our car in their locked yard (one car only) but space was ample in the streets. It turned out that parking is available for pensions within the citadel, so we could well have stayed there. Hostess Anisoara gave us an apartment, even though we didn’t need the extra (but windowless) twin room. It was equipped with cooking facilities, which we used (strangely there were four folding chairs but no table). We had also looked at a double room. The pension is a fair hike to the citadel and town center, but then we would not have found a well-stocked local grocery nor a store selling draft wine (excellent, from the Timisoara area). We were given the excellent free map of Sighisoara, one you won’t find in the commercial information center in town. Ani’s breakfasts were excellent, as was her warm welcome and company. The internet worked fine; in fact each room has a PC of its own. Less pleasant, the rooms (and our apartment) are a bit cave-like with limited windows. Dankness would be less an issue when the central heat is on or it is not raining. So we have mixed feelings about the pension. Sighisoara is a small, visit-it-once kind of place, but if we did come again, we’d book in the citadel.

Room Tip: Book an "apartment" if they are not full.

I stayed at Pensione Sighisoara for two nights and didn't want to leave. They really treat you like family here and there is a communal vibe. The staff is super helpful, the rooms are spotless, and the location is quiet but still convenient enough to all the attractions - what more can you ask for?

I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who comes to Sighisoara. A gem :)

Every time I visited Sighisoara in the last 6 years I stayed at this place. Ani, the good fairy of the house is very helpful and friendly and will make you feel like at home. You won't be an anonymous guest, but treated as if you were family. I think this makes the place really special. Don't worry, if prefer to walk around the beautiful old town or fantastic forests nearby and just sleep at the house they will only be a *little* bit sad. ;)

Room Tip: In the summertime downstairs rooms are cooler, in the wintertime upstairs has more light.
