“Have at least a drink in the house where Dracula was born!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

This is the actual house where Vlad the Impaler, Dracula for Bram Stoker's fans, was born in the 15th century. It is steps away from the Tower, bang-on in the middle of Sighisoara's medieval picturesque citadel. Upstairs there is a small, but quite elegant and atmospheric bar, nowadays almost always deserted despite reasonable prices. Downstairs there is a cellar. Also upstairs there are a terrace and a 1 room minuscule restaurant.

“Nice restaurant (a bit pricey); priceless kitsch visit to Dracula's room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

The restaurant is nicely atmospheric inside, and the dishes were among the best we ate in Transylvania. Really liked the tochitura and the sausages (cevapcici - can't remember the Romanian term). It was a quiet November weeknight, so we had the place to ourselves. After placing our order, we asked to see Dracula's "birth room" - the waiter said he'd need 5 minutes to get it ready. We then walked up a flight of stairs into a hysterically kitsch room draped with red and black satin, with a coffin in the center. "Dracula" rose up, with birthday-party quality face paint, to greet us and pose for photos. The kids found this priceless. Who cares that historically, Vlad the Impaler probably had nothing to do with this house?

“Worst restaurant in Sigishoara”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

We went there for dinner and we waited 10 minutes in the hall and nobody came to us (and there were only two clients eating) !
When the waitress came without any smile and any "good evening", the first thing she told us very rudely was "we have no soup".
The prices are more expensive than other restaurants in Sigishoara.

So, you should take a picture of the house from outside and eat somewhere else!

“Excellent place once you get inside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

Don't be put off by the advertisng outside, it is a shame as it put us off many a time but once we went inside we realised it was a gem. Very smart and traditional inside with a large terrace outside

Food was very good, well priced and service excellent

Traditional dishes

Go in and see for yourself you will be impressed, they just need to sell it better outside as the signage and entrance do not do it justice
