“Could have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2014 via mobile

Good location, good sized room, staff were friendly. Some negatives: the room was poorly heated by an on and off again heater. It was so cold that I could see my breath condensing in the room. The shower alternated between hot and cold, rather than warm. Breakfast was average in terms of choice and quality. Before booking this hotel in winter, I would make sure that the heating was up to standard, as Sapa is very cold in winter.

Not only is the hotel beautiful and clean, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure your entire trip is a pleasant one. This is definitely the hotel I would stay at if I were to visit Sapa again. It had the look of being recently renovated when we stayed in December 2013 and they did a remarkable job.

This is a nice friendly hotel on the one way road into Sapa from Ca Lao. It overlooks the sports ground to the East of Sapa lake. It's a pleasant 10 minute walk into town along a good pavement fronting the lake.In December it was offering very competitive package rates including train/bus/B&B,bus & train using Livitrans.
If you are on a very short tour the time lost walking to/from town can be tedious though you could take a motor bike or taxi. For short trip best stay in town centre.
Room was large & clean though bathroom ceiling was leaking. Heating was really needed and was switched off more than it was on. Room felt cold and damp as did bedding.Reasonable breakfast provided. International TV (No BBC). 2 internet stations in Lobby
Reception are friendly and english speaking.
Very steep stair up into hotel.
Recommended but try to get best deal possible due to location.

This relatively new hotel is a little away from the heart of Sapa town centre (about 5 minutes' walk) and located near the Sapa lake. For this reason, it is away from the main traffic and generally a bit quieter than most of the hotels that are located downtown. The friendly daytime front office lady speaks good English and was very helpful in arranging tours and transportation, but the other staff speaks little or no English. I had a mountain view room on the 3rd floor but it was only a very limited view. The room was very clean and large with one queen bed and one single bed. There is no a/c in my room (just a small electric ventilator-type fan, but the temperature was cool during my stay so it wasn't an issue. I think each room either has a shower cubicle or a bath tub with a shower head. My room has the latter but no shower curtain so some skill was required in order not to drench the whole bathroom when I took a shower! The room also faces a volleyball court which becomes noisy at night until about 10 p.m., and there can also be noise from a karaoke bar (not sure whether it is from the hotel or somewhere nearby) which can go on until quite late in the evening.

Room Tip: Mountain view rooms faces a volleyball court which could get very noisy at night. Try get a room fa...

it was nice weekend trip to Sapa. Hotel is little bit away from town center. But it is a quiet place - good for rest after all day trekking. Friendly and ready to help with any issue stuff. There is restaurant in hotel. We had breakfast and lunch there - meals were good. We were very satisfied for our choice of this hotel.

The hotel is reasonably priced, new and clean. The staff are very friendly and they are trying hard to improve their service. However, there were problems with the room that they didn't seem to believe us about when we told them. The shower was broken, and would suddenly go dangerously, burning hot without warning, and then freezing cold without warning. We told them and they said that they had a look and it was fine, but it was not fixed when we had our next showers. We had a mountain room and every day we woke up to the sound of a dog being tortured under the window, and Chinese tourists screaming at each other all morning in the hallways. Breakfast was not very good. When we arrived at the Lao Cai station, somebody had our names written down and said that they were taking us to the hotel for free, as part of our booking. But when we checked out, they tried to charge us for the transfer.

When checking out we told them again about the shower problem and we got the feeling that they thought we didn't know how to use a shower.

On the positive side, the manager did organise our transfer back to Lao Cai and our train to Hanoi, and helped us with booking a Halong Bay tour.

With a little more experience in customer service, this could be a very good hotel. The flaws are not for lack of trying, there is genuine effort going in here.

Room Tip: Mountain View isn't really a mountain view, and you can hear dogs crying all the time.

We booked a "mountain view" room, but though I could see a little patch of mountain somewhere behind the buildings, this was nothing like what one expects when booking a mountain view room.
However, the staff is very keen on making customers happy and they offered to change us to another room with a better view. There were a few other rooms with a nice view, but still nothing I would call mountain view.
Breakfast is ok, but this is really the one thing I think should be improved. Fresh orange juice please :)
The rooms are very comfortable, and again, the staff is really helpful and friendly (helped us with renting bikes, gave us a room after our check out to take showers before our train back to Hanoi, arranged our transfer back to Lao Cai).
I think this hotel is a good value for money.

Room Tip: City view is actually a better choice than mountain view, the rooms have more light.
