“Dirty sheets”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2012

First impression was nice. My friends rooms were a bit on the icky side. Mine I thought was lovely until I pulled the covers off the bed. I saw one hair, then I started seeing more. Then there were stains. I ended up sleeping on top of the covers fully clothed as the covers felt cleaner.

Hotel staff has good English. Some are friendlier than others, but not out to give any extras. The rooms are quite nice, but the bathrooms could use some cleaning. There is free wifi and a billiard table in the bar area. Located up a hill, so not great if you have trouble walking, but otherwise a decent locale. $20 u.s. per night if you bargain.

We stayed at this hotel for one night after a trekking tour in Sapa.
The building is magnificent and the rooms have lovely furniture in them and are clean. There are large gaps in the windows and bathroom for mosquitoes to get in.The bathrooms are old and very dated with shower over the toilet which can be a bit messy/damp, but is quite common in hotels around Vietnam. It works ok in other places, but not here.
There is no air con, but I don't consider that a problem as Sapa is so much cooler.
The main issue is the breakfast- it is pretty horrible with dirty looking serving table and everything running out.
When you could find the staff they were helpful.
Overall I think you could find somewhere better for the same price in Sapa.

We stopped here to have a shower and breakfast after a long night train from Ha Noi. My friend and I were each given a 'hand towel' to use after the shower. We each had a shower in a very awfully smelly bathroom with no ventilation, we could not shut the curtains so everyone from outside (the vans were parked here) could look in as we were getting changed. So we had to get changed in the wet bathroom, making out new clothes wet and smelly. The room was obviously not cleaned in between customers as there were old towels, food and rubbish all over the bed. This was poor. Even though we weren't staying at this hotel overnight, it would have been nice to shower in a decent spot. Breakfast is just as the photos depict. Plain, boring, old and stale! As I am trying to submit this, it would not let me rate this as 'terrible'

We recently stayed at this beautiful hotel and have not any hesitation in recommending Hoang Ha to our friends. Our room is very clean and the bedding is so much comfortable. This hotel is located in a very convenient place that we could easily walk to the most parts of the city…Overall, It’s worth a place to stay in Sapa.

Stayed here as an overnight stay during my visit to Sa Pa
The hotel is 'Tired', dated but centrally located at the top of the hill
The staff can never be found and when you do find them they are too busy chatting on their mobile phones
The rooms are fitted out with amazing furniture but there is no air con.
The bathroom is something out of the 70's and hasn't been updated since
The sink wobbles as does the toilet
Cheap toilet paper that needs a whole roll for you know what as it disintegrates as soon as you tear it off
The bar area looks more like a waiting room and the smell of food can be smelt up on the 3rd floor
All in all not a nice experience

It is located in our favorite place, very quiet, the room is nice decor, staff is professional and speak English very well, we went to Hanoi by night train from Sapa but they arranged to pick us up at 4h30 a.m free of charge, that's so great, even we got free breakfast. Thanks for your friendly!
