“Excellent value! Nice staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2012

We booked our tour from the Jasmine Hotel, Hanoi, through the tour agency SapaPathfinder, who arranged for us everything from the train tickets, bus pickup from the Lao Cai station to Sapa, etc. We were led to the Hoang Ha Hotel for breakfast and wash-up and storage of our main luggages before going on our trekking and homestay in Ta Van village. Hoang Ha was not appealing to us for our stay-up after the trekking, fortunately we had insisted to our agency in Hanoi that we wanted to stay in Fansipan View.

For a budget-to-mid range hotel, Fansipan View provides excellent value. The room we stayed in on the 3rd floor is clean, has heater, and a nice and big bathroom with (very) hot water and glass partition. it seems that after May 2011 they have renovated/refurbished the whole place, so the pathetic situations that some other travllers complained about prior to this were not experinced by us at all.

Due to the winter season, the town quite foggy most of the time, so not much view can be seen from our room. On clear days, i think those hotels along the road that leads to the Cat Cat Village might have a better view on the Cat Cat Village valley, though i'm not sure about the view from other rooms as maybe they would give good views too (need other travellers to fill it in here.)

The staff are very nice, they are willing to do most things for us, and always with big smiles. The only down side is that this place don't have lift-but then it is not that high so it should be ok, and i think they don't seem to carry luggage for guests (maybe because we stayed just one floor above the lobby), if others got different treatment please correct me here.

Room Tip: Can ask to be provided a room with a good view of either the Fansipan Mountain, or the Cat Cat Villa...

We stayed here for 2 nights in January 2012. The staff spoke really good English and were very helpful. You have to climb quite a few steps from the main road to get to the hotel. The room was ok. It was clean and tidy. If you have a shower when someone else in the building was having a shower at the same time, you will end up with low water pressure and no hot water which is not really nice when it is the middle of winter!! Ask for a column heater for your room as it will get cold. The electricity was cut off when we were there. Apparently that is usual in Sapa as they have really unreliable electricity. We had no heat for almost a day. The breakfast was pretty ordinary. There is also a fireplace in the hotel restaurant.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the top floors. You will get a great view!!

We were a group of four and stayed in this hotel for two nights. The views we had of the town and the mountains were absolutely gorgeous from both rooms on the second and third floors.

The rooms were fairly basic, but totally comfortable with all the amenities you could ask for.

The reason this hotel only gets an average score from me is two-fold. 1. The breakfast are terrible - definitely, without a doubt the worst we've had in Vietnam. The Pho was from a packet, the eggs were average and the pancakes were TERRIBLE - old old flour.

2. The staff. As a rule, staff in Vietnam are lovely and will bend over backwards to help you but unfortunately this was not our experience here. One tried to short change us from a tour we booked saying basically that the money we paid was for her boss and she wanted a little something. The same girl hovered whenever she did anything for us, wanting a tip. It wasn't a massive issue, but it was enough to put us off.

Sa Pa is a gorgeous town which has been one of my favourites in all of Vietnam so definitely visit, but maybe find a hotel with better reviews.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor to take advantage of the views and skip breakfast - for a tiny amou...

Had no idea where to stay in Sapa as so many hotels seemed similar. Glad we chose here though - had top floor deluxe room with lovely view. Enjoyed the coolness after Hanoi. We were met at the train for free even though we had not booked the train with the hotel. Booked the Sunday tour to Bac Ha Market with them and this all went smoothly. Liked the location a bit away from the restaurant and hotel strip - made for a pleasant walk to and from dinner. Very friendly staff who did their best to communicate with us in English. They managed to teach us a bit of Vietnamese in the process and we had many laughs together. They also shared some of their local snacks with us and explained what they were. If we ever return to Sapa which is on the cards, will stay here again.

Spent two nights here last October. I booked the Deluxe Room wishing I have nice view of the mountains but no. The sky was cloudy/foggy all the time (of course not the hotel's fault:) and even if it had been clear sky, I'm guessing the view hadn't been that special since the room was only in the 2nd floor.

The room was alright but not very "deluxe". It had all the normal amenities and things you need (altough not room safe even it is mentioned on the hotel's website). Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast, that was included in the room price, was average but I got my stomach full.

Hotel is a bit away from most of the restaurant and services but certainly not too far.

Our program and travel was very well organized, thanks for the stuff. We chose one of the package deals that the hotel offers with some modification which meant no problem. Our hotel organized us a guide for a 2 day trekking in the nearby villages. The guide was a young man, his English was quite good.
Our room was large and comfortable with hot water in the shower.
We got a a dinner at the hotel's restaurant one night, it was quite delicious, I had no difficulties asking for the no-meat versions.
The very small lady at the reception even helped us bringing our backpacks, even my backpack was larger than herself!
I definitely recommend this place. Though one can find cheaper options but if you have limited time or you want a reliable service, or just want a comfortable room after a whole day hiking, it's a good choice.
