“Loyal returning guests”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2014

We have just returned from yet another magical stay at Desa Seni. We have been visiting Desa Seni twice (sometimes three times!) a year since we discovered it in 2009 (and we don't even practice yoga!). We cherish wonderful memories of this very unique and simply beautiful place, and we always look forward to our next visit. We are welcomed 'home' each time we return, and we certainly feel at home. We thank all the wonderful staff, each of whom has a place in our hearts for the care and joy they bring to our holidays. This year our daughter was aged 3 and a half - and she wandered freely around the village, always welcomed with love and a smile. She certainly felt she was coming home. In fact, she calls Desa Seni "Bali" itself, as though this were the only possible place to be on the island. Our daughter is loved and cherished by all staff. We have stayed in several houses in the village and they all have something special to recommend them. The pool is a welcoming place, both tranquil and social. Each time we have all made new friends from around the world, and our daughter enjoys the company of other children who are either guests of the resort or day guests. The food is exquisite and the grounds are magical. A very special place indeed. Lucky those who have experienced it. Thank you.

We came as part of a yoga retreat from escape capital of thee world Las Vegas . But this was everything Vegas is missing . A yoga village feed from the vegetable garden on the grounds , pampered by the local staff and such a unique , cosy balanced breathing between man and structure . Even the retail shop is kool ---
Epicness in the raw , love and light from mark and amanda to all the staff

I have just returned home from Desa Seni. I don't think I could ever stay in "hotel style accommodation" again after staying in this beautiful paradise. I took a lovely group away for a health retreat and plan to do this again, very soon. We were in a state of absolute bliss and words can't describe how wonderful the Yoga, Food, Staff and Accommodation was. There is nothing I can fault about Desa Seni. When I take a group away I like everything to be very organised and close to as perfect as I can make it and this was absolute perfection in every way. You feel like you're part of a fairytale staying here with the beautiful traditional houses, stepping stones, surrounded by vegie gardens filled with the food that we ate daily and prepared by the staff in the kitchen. I would highly recommend Desa Seni for anyone who likes a peaceful but healthy holiday where yoga is available daily, an amazing healthy restaurant, and wants to leave feeling rejuvinated, re-energised and will have an abundance of energy returning to every day life.

Room Tip: Any room is good.

This place blew my mind....this is truly heaven on earth. We arrived after dark to this lantern-lit faerie land! Captured the imagination! Oh-so stunning. The yoga, the food, staff, cottages, facilities and amenities, inclusions, the creativity and aesthetics, the attention to detail...the fact that they remember your names... EVERYTHING was exceptional. We instantaneously relaxed.

The ONLY thing that my partner and I felt let us down SLIGHTLY, was the standard of the therapists in the spa treatments... not great pressure, and spa etiquette was lacking (basic introduction, dragging feet around room during treatment, banging the hot rocks in basin and on body, clanging things, speaking loudly, left the room)...just took away from the relaxing experience. However, the overall Desa Seni experience made up for this. Congratulations on creating such a superb eco resort. What a phenomenal place... thank you!! And yes... I would travel to Bali again JUST TO STAY HERE. Wow.

Room Tip: We were double-upgraded to the Village Deluxe Suite- a two storey cottage of gorgeousness! You won...

I stayed here as part of a yoga retreat and absolutely would return. Everything is beautifully and meticulously prepared, from rooms, grounds, and meals, to how we are welcomed every day. This is truly a five star resort with none of the usual pretension or attitude you may find at similar places. In fact, I've never experienced anything like Desa Seni. It was a dream!

We stayed in a deluxe villa, a traditional bamboo Indonesian house with a large living room, kingsize bed, big outdoor bathroom, terrace, chillout, garden view and lots of peace and privacy (Nasar room). The decoration is very charming and all the details make this place special. We enjoyed the complementary yoga everyday (many classes a day like a yoga studio, open to the public and actually all classes were full) with good international teachers. It's a eco hotel, commited with sustainability in Bali, they serve great fruit juices with glass straw and grow their own vegetables. Nice swimming pool, organic veggie gardens all around the hotel, great friendly staff. It's very quiet and looks like a village. The only negative aspect is maybe the service at the restaurant which is very slow, maybe to help stressed westerners to slow down and be more patient... It is located 15min drive from Seminyak and Petitenget busy areas, easy to reach by scooter. I would definitely come back and stay longer!

Room Tip: Nasar deluxe house is quiet, not too close to common areas, large and nicely decorated.

I am very grateful to have stayed here for 2 nights, three days. I have to say that this is the most magical place I have every had the pleasure of calling home.

The staff are just so wonderful, they take the upmost care of their guests and respect your space if you are wanting alone time.

Each of the houses are magical, antique balinese houses with eclectic balinese decor.

The food was fantastic, a lot of raw, wholefood items on the menu.

The yoga offered to the public and guests is taught by wonderful teachers. Such a treat being able to walk out of your door and into yoga.

I was upgraded to Wishnu cottage which was absolutely perfect. It has a wonderful verandah for dining, reading etc. The staff introduce you to your new home, and home is certainly how I felt when staying at this beautiful resort.

I used one of their bicycles to have a bit of a look around the area. Not sure if everyone would be comfortable cycling in Bali's traffic but it wasn't a problem for me.

Three lovely resort dogs who will keep you company when needed :)

I could easily have just spend the three days purely on the resort grounds – it is the perfect place for time out, reflection and peace.

It is also important to me the Desa Seni give back to the Balinese community – you can read all about this on the website.

Thank you to all the staff. I look forward to returning sooner than later.
