Could not of asked for a better place to call home on our stay in canggu. Meena and are the staff are very welcoming and the service is fantastic. The bungalows are really cute, with a gorgeous little pool and garden. Great location! Hidden, but close to everything you need. Inc all the best cafe/restaurants. Bali at it's best. Simple, clean, cosy and friendly and affordable.

Well, first of all what we liked: friendly staff, eco style bungalows, and the price. This is a good budget stay at an eco guest house.

But what we didn't like:
1.Location--it is quite far even from Canggu village center, where most of the restaurants, shops and spa salons are located. It is about 15-20min walk away from the beach, not 7mins as you might be told at the reception. That might be due to scorching heat or numerous motorbikes and cars all trying to pass through the one lane road, but that's how long it took us to get to the beach on several occasions.

2. Cleanliness-- the sheets were not changed frequently. The stain we saw on the sheet remained there until the end of the week.

3. The staff honesty-- they exaggerated the taxi fare by 2-3 times so that we end up taking their car. We took the "blue bird" taxi to Seminiak when we checked out and that's when we saw the real price to get to 'downtown' Canggu and Seminiak city center.

Room Tip: There are very few taxis near the guest house area. If the reception calls for a taxi for you, insis...

Great place to stay. The Balinese rooms are spacious and clean, nice outdoor bathrooms, really cool little balcony area. The pool is great and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Out of all of the hustle and bustle and lots of great restaurants close by.

We had booking for a week, but checked-out just after a day. Here are some of the reasons why:
1. It's open from everywhere. You have those stylish wooden sticks on top of the room (like windows) with huge gaps in between them. So you can hear everything outside.
2. Bugs everywhere. There were at least 30 dead bugs above our mosquito net. Not a great sight when lying on the bed. There were 3 caterpillars in the shower area (its open area). My wife just couldn't bathe there. Plus there was a huge snake skin stuck on the side of the wall.
3. Not a good fan. Our room was a "bungalow with fan". We ecpected a ceiling fan, but were shocked to see a basic plastic fan on stand. And once you put the mosquito net on, the air doesnt really get in. So it would take you around an hour to get sleep.

If you don't mind bugs, noise and extreme heat - it's a nice place to stay. We moved to a different hotel where some of our friends were staying, because we couldn't take it.

Yes, the place is so calm and quite. Far from the crowds which is good.
Friendly crew, nice room as well.
But the only thing is the bathroom/showroom is outdoor which can easily attracts the people (when I stay here there was a new building construction). I hope there will be a cover or higher wall for the bathroom.
But overall the place is recommended to stay in Bali.
Also close to some places you might visit; Echo Beach, DEUS cafe and motorbike museum.
Absolutely good place to stay.

Calm Tree accommodation is located 10 minutes (walking) from beach. I liked the location as you have 4 fantastic restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. Calm Tree staff are very friendly and can organise scooter hire, transport, surf board or just about anything else. We stayed in a family bungalow (wouldn't be suitable for young children as stairs are very steep). Bungalow was very comfortable and clean (no air conditioning, tv or fridge - we already knew when we booked but worth mentioning on here). We didn't feel mosquito's were a problem, you have nets over bed and repellant. Pool was great (kids loved it) and food was delicious. Bungalows have a big front deck with day beds for relaxing and easy access to pool. We had a wonderful 8 days, Suksuma!

We arrived jet lagged an unaccustomed to the heat and left fives days later fully refreshed and ready for out Bali adventure. Had 4 children with us who basically stayed in the pool for five days. The only thing that could improve on this experience was air con, but we are more acclimatised now than if we had had it. Highly recommend.
