“Amazing vegetarian restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2014

This place is simply a must visit place for food in kovalam.

Been in Kovalam for three weeks now, and have eaten a wide range from the menu - and I have loved all the food so far.

Great for both breakfast, lunch and dinner - or just a snack!

“Best Vegetarian Food in India!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2014

OK so perhaps I exaggerate, but after almost 6 weeks travelling in India the Lonely Planet was a breath of fresh air. Its dishes were a cut above what we had tasted so far and used some imagination rather than just pumping out the same old Indian curries that a lot of the Kovalam restaurants appear to do.

Especially worthy of note are their stuffed peppers, ginger garlic paneer and either their bean or cabbage thoran. They will sometimes ask if you like your food spicy or not – if they don’t then don’t hesitate to ask.

They also do very good South Indian breakfasts. Their Masala Dosa is easily one of the best so far - I had several very good ones in restaurants in Udupi, the home of the dosa. But in a way these were better.

If busy you may have to wait a while for your food – it took 30 minutes once for our food to arrive!

Note: The tables are located next to a very nice fish pond – I have spent many an hour just watching the fish, and the snakes*, kingfishers and egrets fishing. But if eating in the evening make sure you are covered and/or protected against mosquitoes as the pond is home to many of them. It is unfair to blame the Lonely Planet for this problem as any restaurant away from the beach front will be very near to similar ponds many of which are nowhere near as clean. The Lonely Planet does burn mosquito coils.

Very highly recommended.

* Yup. Kovalam has snakes and probably the dangerous sort. So if walking in the narrow lanes behind the beach be aware, don’t panic, don’t touch, just let them slither off into the undergrowth.

“Good food well priced.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2014 via mobile

We've used this place a few times good points are the food and prices. Unfortunately at busy times there can be a long wait until you are served. We waited 45mins to be served before slightly less. Toilets are disgraceful but that's India. No alcohol served that we know of.
Very comprehensive menu all staff are polite but rushed. Nice atmosphere. Hope this helps try the place make up your own mind!!

“Amazing food, reasonable price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

If you are vegetarian, this is just the place for you (since most of other restaurant specialize in non-veg food). Food is amazing, prices are reasonable. However, there is no sea view from hotel. Do not forget to buy their music CD (which costs INR 150).
