Rather late writing this review. Stayed here in January 2012 for 1 week, as part of a month holiday traveling in Kerala and tamil nadu. Stayed in the Keralan beach house. Our room was lovely. We could hear and see the see from our room. We ate all our meals here, the chef raj is a genius, the prawns were to die for. They also serve real coffee here. Phil couldn't do enough for us. Ambi his business partner also went out of his way to help, both picking us up and dropping us back at the train station in Trivandrum. The location of the hotel is amazing, right on the beach. Kovalam id about 20 mns away in a taxi, though we only went once. We were happy to lounge on the beach, eating Raj' lovely food, reading a good book, occasionally going for a dip in the luke warm sea. Bliss.........we will definately return

Only 25 minutes away from the main train station and international airport. We made our way down a small narrow road going through the village full of smiles and friendly people. We stayed in one side of Kerala House, a traditional Indian building with a palm roof. Inside was spotless and very well kept with a fridge and tea making facilities. We met the owner Phil, his Mum Jackie and Ambi. Nothing was too much trouble, they made us feel very welcome and relaxed. The chef, Raj, is a genius in the kitchen I recommend the mushroom masala and a couple of Bhaturra breads, again service was great in the restaurant very attentive but not overbearing. The hammocks on the private part of the beach were great set under coconut trees a great way to watch a perfect sunset over the turquoise sea. If you want to stay well clear of crap tourist/commercial places, relax and have a quiet time - Phil's is your place to go, Thanks.

We stayed next door to Kadaltheeram Beach Resort, but felt like we were staying there as Phil looked after us so very well! The food, cooked by Raj, was delicious and the views, the sound of the water, and the great company made our time perfect. A perfect retreat from Delhi life and bustle. Thank you Phil for being so kind to us! We'll come back.

During our January 2013 stay close to the Kadaltheeram Beach Resort, on the beautiful and unspoiled Nellikunnu beach, we quickly discovered this delightful beachside Resort and Restaurant. The food is excellent and reasonably priced, and for most of our stay we ate breakfast, lunch and dinner there as we found it to be the best and most enjoyable restaurant in the area. It is in an idyllic position right on the beach and Philip, the owner, and all his staff, are extremely polite, friendly and welcoming and will happily take special requests for food which they source daily. Raj, the chef, is exceptional and the menu has great variety to suit everyone's tastes. Although we did not stay at the Resort, Philip kindly showed us around and the accommodation was beautifully situated close to the beach, well furnished, attractive and spotless. If we get a chance to return, we will definitely stay there.

We stayed at Kadaltheeram Beach Resort for 6 days in January this year, we had a wonderful and most relaxing time there. Phillip was an excellent and entertaining host and along with his co partner Ambi and staff run the small resort efficiently and with much goodwill. We absolutely loved the food, we ate every meal there, Raj the chef deserves special praise, every dish was tasty, fresh (fish caught an hour ago) and great value he is an accomplished chef and everthing was seasoned and spiced to perfection . This does not pretend to be a 5 star resort, it's much too laid back in the nicest possible way, for that. It sits in a fantastic spot, the waves crashing in 24 hours a day, palm trees provided natural shade and beauty, the dining area is lovely any time of the day.
We had one of the garden rooms which was adequately kitted out, there is no aircon but the fan was more than enough for us, we had comfy twin beds and seeing that we had pushed them together they were made up to a super king without asking.
We would love to return.

We stayed here for a week in January 2012. A perfect place to relax and do nothing much after a hectic 3 weeks travelling around India.

Our room was the Mermaid room which is the only double room. There are only 6 rooms. 4 in the main house and 2 in a Keralan house in the grounds. The double bed was actually only a ¾ bed but we managed. Next time we will book a twin room. The rooms are simply furnished, but there is a fridge and a kettle, with tea, coffee and milk provided. Decent shower with hot water. Everywhere is very clean, sheets and towels changed regularly.

We had a lovely verandah overlooking the sea with a table and two chairs, nice just to chill out.

The setting of the hotel is what makes it idyllic. It is right on a palm fringed beach with the waves lapping on the shore. It is dangerous to swim here due to the currents but people did go in and there is a lifeguard. The hotel has its own bit of sand with sunbeds and lots of shade or you can sit on a terrace in the full sun. Nice well kept gardens.

The restaurant overlooks the beach and the palm trees . The tables are lit by candlelight so it is quite romantic. The chef Raj cooks up the most delicious meals so we only ate out on two lunchtimes. The prawns were fantastic.

The hotel is about 20 minutes by taxi from Kovalam but there are a few other places to eat nearby and also a few souvenir shops. You can walk up the hill about 20 minutes to the nearest village or just get a taxi.

Phil and Ambi the owners go out of their way to ensure you enjoy your stay. Phil runs the place and Ambi runs a Taxi business, his sister owns a nice shop just up the road.

Whilst we were there was a festival in a nearby village. Philip arranged transport (Ambi’s taxi) for all the guests to go. This was a fantastic experience and the memories will stay with us.

Loved every minute of our stay at Kadaltheeram Beach and hope to return next year.

We had an amazing holiday in India, and although we stayed in a friends house nearby we came here to eat every evening and breakfast time! the food was great (esp the prawns!) service friendly and informative. right on the beach on a quiet bay, an excellent place to relax. the accommodation looked good, and the old keralan house that made the restaurant added to the authentic ambience. highly recommended :)
