Whosoever has constructed the web site for Rossitta Wood Castle has done a great job as the hotel is nowhere like what it has been portrayed as. Unfortunately as we could not find any reviews for the hotel, we had to rely on the website to decide on our reservation. The web site promised a heritage hotel with a great looking room and were were floored by the comfort and ambience it portrayed. When we reserved a room for Rs 2,000 (which we were told was a discounted price), we thought we had a deal. Moreover we were promised the best room in the hotel which is called the Wood Mansion.
Even before we entered the hotel we realised it was'nt looking like it did on the net. Our room also was dingy with only two bulb fittings (one of which had a red shade). As the room looked very gloomy we asked for the red shade to be removed and got it replaced with a white milky one. There was only a slight improvement. After this we asked about the promised television. The staff went looking for one and got a makeshift trolley (in a heritage hotel) and installed it. Another shock was when a lizard got into my wife's vanity case and she had the shock of her life when she wanted to take out something as it slithered out immediately. The room has twin beds kept together instead of a double bed. The extra bed provided to us was bent in the middle and creaked whenever our son moved throughout the night. Though the room had a attached living room it was of no use as it was completely separate and very dingy and had only two chairs and a table.
The bathroom was clean and had a tub also. But it smelt terrible because of a suspect drainage system. In the morning the hot water came in the wash basin and not in the bathing tub. A man had to be called to set things right.
The hotel has very little space for dining but that is not how it is portrayed on the net. It has a very small courtyard which is shown as an open dining area. However in reality this is a small space which has to be left open. The real dining space is for three to four tables only.
The only bright spot was a cheerful cook who tried to make things according to our wants and did a good job. The staff is unprofessional though they are polite and respond immediately when called upon for any work.
So in totality, Rossitta Wood Castle cannot be called a Heritage Hotel as few pieces of old furniture and wooden flooring does not make a heritage hotel.
