“The Moose Has The Best Apple Fritters We Have Ever Eaten”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

The Moose Is Loose is a bakery and gift shop located in Soldotna, Alaska. The freshly baked goods at the Moose Is Loose are amongst the finest we had ever eaten. The apple fritter was made with fresh crisp apples and was not overly sweet. These were the best apple fritters we have eaten anywhere in the lower 48 states. The donuts and cookies were also excellent. We made several trips to the Moose on our travels in and through Soldotna on the Alaska Kenai peninsula. We are now visiting the gym to pay for our love of the Moose. The Moose remains open all year but the lines can be long during the summer months particularly during the sockeye salmon season. We waited for 30 minutes in a line one time and the wait was well worth the outcome. We are now trying to determine how to have some of those apple fritters shipped to Arizona.

“Taste of Heaven”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2014

What a great surprise! After traveling from Anchorage, my fishing party stopped here for a bit of breakfast. Incredible. The bakery is small but has a eating area in the back. The bakery also doubles as a moose souvenir shop. From moose soap to books, games, shirts, cups, one can find a moose on almost anything. But what I loved the most? The cheese Danish!

I savoured every morsel of the cheese Danish on the way to fish for halibut in Homer. On the way back, we stopped and there were no more cheese danishes left. What a shame. They suggested Danish donuts. These were almost as good. The other anglers in my party all consumed the fritters instead. I didn't care for the road-kill cin roll, but that was just me. I could have eaten there every day and never be disappointed.

If you are in Soldotna
One would be remiss
To drive by this bakery
And the tasty pastries miss

“Best sugar in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

Love this place! Great and creative pastries chock full of sugar. I always have to take a nap when the sugar rush is over but it is worth it. The coffee is also really good and the employees are the greatest. I love reading about the moose pictures on the walls and the gift selection is really good. The gifts are above average value and stuff you cannot find just anywhere. Anyone visiting Soldotna should stop and have a pastry and cup of coffee. You will not be disappointed.

“Never Disappoints!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

You go on vacation to the Kenai Peninsula and expect to gain a little weight, not if you go to the Moose is Loose! The absolute, hands down, best pastry and coffee ever! My grandkids and kids went crazy this trip as well as those in the past. The first word each morning, "are we going to the Moose this morning?". Friendly people, great food!

“Great Bakery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

This is by far the best bakery. Everything is made fresh everyday for most of the day. Have a sweet tooth? They have something for everyone. Lots of other novelty items to purchase also
