Want to find a DIAMOND in a coal field? Read on!!! My wife and I flew to Alaska for our very first time. We stayed with our daughter in Seward who works there. She told us about Seldovia and its quaintness & remoteness. We decided to go there for an overnight stay and bought our fishing licenses (just in case). We called Harbor's Edge B&B & made reservations for our stay plus reservations to go fishing. We drove our rental car to Homer & parked at Homer Air. We bought tickets to fly to Seldovia since the only way you can get there is by boat or airplane. Flying was the best choice for us due to time. We made a fast 15 minute flight & were picked up by Captain Tom Keesecker, owner & charter boat operator. Upon arriving at Harbor's Edge B&B, we met his wife , Peggy, and were shown our quarters. It was (and is) beautiful with a maritime motif throughout the suite. Even the carpet was aquamarine in color. There was a very comfortable king size bed plus 2 twin beds in the ajoining room. The closet space was large. The kitchen was completely furnished with first class dinnerware, silverware, & cookware (much to our surprise & delight). There was a TV with satellite reception, a large refrigerator, electric range & oven, and a table and several chairs by the window with a view of the harbor across the street. They provided an electric clock, exotic teas, coffee, and sugar/sweeteners too. Captain Tom presented us with two complimentary insulated blue drinking glasses with sliding opening at the top (so you could drink without spilling the contents). We were absolutely amazed at the cleanliness& completeness of the suite. It was spotless. The bathroom featured a wonderful glass shower and the lavatory was solid wood with an inset sink and a custom faucet fixture. We had a relaxing day strolling through Seldovia & taking in the sights and sounds. All the local restaurants were first class too. After a wonderful night of rest, we joined Captain Tom to go on our fishing trip. His boat is first class too and as spotless as Harbor's Edge B&B. He also features Sight Seeing Tours besides Fishing Charters. His reputation in town is impeccable, which really made us feel very comfortable and safe on the fishing trip. We fished for Halibut for quite some time. Got bites, but couldn't catch any, since they were moving due to the season. So Captain Tom changed the rigging on our fishing poles to catch Silver Salmon, which indeed we did!!! After returning to dock, he cleaned & prepared our catch so that we could bring it with us back to Seward & eventually back to our home in El Paso, Texas. Reluctantly, we packed our things & said goodbye to Peggy and Captain Tom drove us back to the airport where we caught our return flight to Homer. Everything went off without a hitch! That's hard to beat anywhere!!! WE do plan to return to our "Diamond" as soon as possible. We highly recommend anyone that wants a real taste of Alaska to book reservations at the Harbor's Edge B&B, [--] Don't miss out on an affordable and exciting opportunity for fun and relaxation in the most charming of places you could dream about. Sincerely, Patrick & Wilma Crowe, El Paso, Texas
