In my view, most of your reviewers must have been in different cabins to me and reviews seem over the top.

I had a pleasent peaceful night in a small cabin with shower only. The site was a mess said to be due to improvements to cabins. may be in part but could be tided. The mountain situation is pleasent and convenience to Denali Highway a main reason for staying.

I was very well received by the owners and made every effort to make me comfortable

Value for money is dubious at $150 and continential breakfast is charged per item. There is however little choice in the area. The restaurant / hotel next door has a basic menu but food is good and cheap.

There is no tv or internet avaliable which may or may not be an asset!

I hope I am not being too hard as I had a pleasent stay and sun on the deck at 8pm in May was great as was the sight of wildlife from the bed at 5am.

We thank this guest for his review, and although we cannot apologize for our rates - they are equal to the absolutely bog-standard hotel/motel facilities in the nearest towns - 80 miles to our north and south - we would like to say that with our staggeringly increased utilities costs (electricity, for example, now is at US$2.50 per kWh and climbing - that is over twenty times the USA mean), we did have to raise rates to their current levels.

But as for the reviewer's other concern - the lack of tidiness of the compound, we do apologize and offer this small solace: he arrived in that small window of time we have between snowmelt and full summer season; the only opportunity we have to perform needed construction. If he had come from today (June 2) on, he would have found all our facilities in the tip-top shape our guests expect and deserve.

Best wishes to all travellers,

The cabins here are very new, big and comfortable. The location is great if you are doing the Denali Highway. Audie and Jenny are extremely welcoming and organised a simple Salmon BBQ dinner for us, which was the best Salmon we have ever tasted!
Their little grocery shop offers all kinds of goodies to make your stay even better...Would definately recommend if you are looking for a place to stay a night or a couple of days. Enjoy your trip!

Denali Highway Cabins

I went to Alaska in August 2007. I wanted to take an adventure and see Denali National Park before I lost the chance and I was not able to do so. I was doing a search on the internet I came across a place called Denali Highway Cabins. I called them to get information and decided that that would be a great place to stay. I would be able to travel/drive across the WHOLE Denali Highway, since the cabins were right at the start.
I called the cabins and Jenny and Audie were very helpful in making the reservations. I was all set. I was advised by Jenny to bring any "extras" with me since she had said there was not much around. BOY was she right. I live in a very busy city and have been wearing earplugs to sleep for 10 years. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I DID NOT HAVE TO WEAR EARPLUGS. The sound of the river was so beautiful and so relaxing. The first night I rented a video and just stayed in the cabin. The cabin was beautiful; I was lucky to be near the river, I could walk out and get to it! The cabin was very roomy! I came by myself, but if I were to bring my husband, it would have been big for the both of us. It was very clean and I enjoyed hot coca on the deck listening to the river. In the mornings I had some yummy coffee and spectacular muffins. On my second night was the night I took a float trip. I read about it on their web site and thought it would be fun. I saw lots of salmon and so many bald eagles I lost count. I also saw an owl! The mountains were beautiful--Audie spoke about the different things we were seeing and I learned a lot.
My last night there I bought some salmon which was the tastiest salmon I have ever had!
The only thing I wanted to see were northern lights and bear, but that's ok- I did see some moose and caribou
Overall this was the most wonderful place to stay--If I ever make it back to Alaska, this is the only place I would stay. Jenny and Audie were so nice and make you feel right at home!

We stayed at the Denali Highway Cabins our last few days in Alaska. It was very remote, but beautiful. The cabin was large and had a great loft with a queen sized bed. The cabin was very clean and inviting. We purchased buffalo burgers and salmon from Audie and cooked them on a grill on the deck, the salmon was the best I have ever had. We took a lovely boat ride with Audie and Jenny down the river to the lake, saw many beautiful birds, bald eagles and beavers. Very hospitable and inviting.

Our cabin was beautiful--new, clean, attractive, and with a raised bed that thrilled our kids. Even better was the evening nature walk, in which Audie taught us all about the sun and seasons in Alaska, about salmon, about birds, and about moose. His partner, Denali Jenny, was great too, and we ate lots of muffins and loaded up on homemade soap. The only drawback was a lack of places to eat. Do NOT go to the restaurant next door. We drove 20 miles up the (paved portion of the) Denali Highway to the Tangle Lakes lodge instead; this was not glamorous, but the place was clean, the service was nice, and the food was good.
