Food was tastless, old and service was bad. Out of 4 meals only 1 was okay. When someone finally asked about our meal and we said it was awful we were told thats to bad. No offer of credit or different meal. Nor did a manager or owner speak to us. I would not recommend this restaurant.

I'll preface by saying that I'm very, very particular about food and cleanliness. Fairbanks does not have a lot of restaurant options, and the restaurants are much more expensive than in the lower 48.

Pagoda is a Chinese restaurant on the "main drag" in North Pole, across from the mall. It is a sit-down restaurant, with a lot of seating. The decor is gaudy but good atmosphere for the meal. The service is always excellent, and the restaurant appears to be very clean. The food is alway very fresh.

They have a good lunch special, with a large combo platter for ~$10 with a choice of an entree, fried rice, a soup, and an eggroll. It's a huge meal for the price. Dinner is reasonably priced. The entrees are served family style with white rice and hot tea included in the meal.

They have a unique, hearty egg drop soup which is delicious, full of vegetables, with a light clear broth, some pork, and of course, egg. The hot and sour (my favorite) is usually excellent, though a couple times it wasn't quite perfect, but still good.

The fried rice is like a meal with lots of meat and vegetables. The sesame chicken is delicious. It's a lightly fried chicken with a fantastic sweet, spicy sauce. I want the secret of that sauce. The mongolian beef is another favorite, but is a little less consistent. Sometime the meat is a little tough. It has great flavor though, as does the mongolian chicken. The kung pao chicken is also great. The eggrolls are ok.

I don't care for their dessert option... deep fried cheesecakes. I wish they would serve a scoop of orange sherbert with fortune cookies, something light and refreshing after the meal. Deep fried cheesecake just makes me cringe. They do serve fortune cookies at the end of the meal.

This is one of the best restaurants in Fairbanks, and one of only two where I often have dinner (the other is Bahn Thai, which I have also reviewed). Highly recommend, especially if you day trip to North Pole.
