The Eider House Bed & Breakfast is the best B&B I have ever stayed at. I have stayed at Robin's place twice for a total of 14 days and enjoyed every night. She is an excellent cook and can make almost any breakfast you request. I especially enjoyed her homemade sausage, ham, egg and cheese biscuits which had a side of fried potatoes. The kitchen is fully furnished so we had the option of cooking our own evening meals when we became tired of eating at restaurants.
There are hotels in the area but don't waste your time calling. The rooms will not be as clean, quiet or as well maintained. At those hotels, you will hear traffic noise outside the window. At the Eider house, you will hear the sounds of the Sargent Creek all night long.
If you happen to be working for the government or in the military, Robin does give a discount to get the nightly rate with in the per diem rates.
If on my next trip to Kodiak I can’t get a room at the Eider House, I will change my schedule so I can get in. Yes, it is that good!

“Great Bed & Breakfast”

Eider House Bed & Breakfast

This was the very first bed & breakfast for me and my wife. We usually stay at hotels and timeshare condos. We were hesitant at first, and tried to get a room at the Best Western (I think that's the only major chain in Kodiak). We are really glad that the Best Western was booked, because we were able to experience this gem.

The rooms were comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. The owners were friendly and helpful without being intrusive at all. I liked the location--it was between the city and the parks. The creek in the back was soothing to hear at night.

A wonderful experience--we will definitely stay here whenever we go to Kodiak.

We live in Florida and love to travel to Alaska in our RV for the summer. This summer we left the RV on the mainland and took the Alaska Marine Hwy to Kodiak Island for a few days. It was our wonderful luck to get reservations at the Eider House. What a wonderful and warm family! Robin made us feel like part of their family. We loved meeting her, her husband and their two daughters. It was one of those perfect situations with two other couples staying there who were as enthralled with the Eider House as we were. Robin was the perfect hostess, telling us all the insider things to see and do on the Island. When one of the couples had a problem with their rental car, it was Robin to the rescue. And one of the ladies was in a wheelchair and unable to get on the plane for the inland trip to see the bears. Again Robin stepped in and entertained the lady for the afternoon while the others took the flight. We found the accommodations at the Eider House to be very comfortable; each room is very private and has a unique decor. The breakfasts were excellent and one morning we had a special treat of salmon which they had caught and smoked. The Eider House is located on a river and the grounds and their horses are beautiful. It was a perfect vacation and we hope to go back some day!
