Without doubt, this was one of the best places my wife and I stayed at during our recent trip 6 week trip to Alaska and Canada. From the courteous and helpful staff, to the quality of the room, to the fabulous setting - this place ticked all the right boxes. A couple of indicators: 1) We originally had a reservation for 3 nights but had to cancel one night at short notice due to a ferry delay. No problem, and no cancellation charge. 2) My wife left her favorite hat at a local restaurant on our last night. When we mentioned that to the driver who took us to the ferry terminal the next morning (at 5am!!!) he said he'd fetch it and post it back to us. We left our credit card details to pay for postage. The hat was at home when we arrived back in Australia, but no charge to our card. Only small things, but it's often those that are the best indicators. The room we stayed in was clean, recently refurbished, generously sized and very well appointed. As noted by other reviewers there were some stairs to navigate that may not suit those with mobility issues, but for the average person, are no problem. We're in our 60-ies and had a couple of fairly heavy bags. Neither my wife nor I found the stairs to be a problem. What sets this place apart is the fabulous location on the old boardwalk. It's full of history and interesting shops, and is a photographer's delight. We were there when the salmon were heading up the adjacent creek to spawn - thousands of them - what a sight.

I stayed at one of the small lofts that Creek Street operates in Ketchikan recently. It was neat, clean and very warm. The staff is friendly. And the loner umbrella sure did come in handy! The location is convenient to all of the attractions near the cruise ship docks and the Cape Fox Lodge, where our conference was being held.
I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The lofts are really nice

Over the 2011 Labor Day weekend, we stayed at the Inn. Plenty of room for having our granddaughter to visit, kitchen, loft, nice bathroom. Right downtown near where the cruise ships dock. Salmon and seals swimming right outside the porch.

If you don't mind stairs, it's a great place. Not a cookie - cutter hotel room. Staff was very helpful when we noticed we were out of coffee. Would stay again.

As others point out, the hotel is right on the street; the Inn is a short walk back along the creek.

Also, as it can really rain in Ketch, bring industrial rain gear and boots if you plan to walk around much.

Room Tip: Rooms in the "hotel" are certainly not as quiet as the places back on the creek.

I stayed at The New York Hotel for 5 nights and it was great. There is a free shuttle to and from the ferries, just ring and ask and they will pick you up. A microwave at the top of the stairs for everyones use is great, most people can't afford to eat out ll the time, just pop a frozen dinner in the microwave. My one complaint would be that my room was really noisy. They gave me a room with an awesome view but they could do with double glazed windows. The main street runs in front of your rooms and for a small town, it's a busy road. Free in room wifi, a cafe downstairs. Perfect!

We stayed at the New York Hotel in July for 3 nights. It was the perfect spot. It is right next to Creek Street, a must visit place, and downtown stores. We took the water taxi from the airport and arrived just across the street. The hotel is like an old time boarding house with beautiful dark wood. Just downstairs is the famous New York Cafe. Great breakfast & Lunch. We needed to get out to the Saxman Village and asked to call a taxi and the lady at the desk said she would take us. Her service minded personality was just one example of the hospitality we experienced in Ketchikan.

After finishing a wonderful cruise on the Wilderness Discoverer with Innersea Discoveries, my wife and I spent one night in Ketchikan at the Inn on Creek St. The room was very clean, comfortable and large with a view out the window of the streets of Ketchikan and the picturesque buildings on the creek itself. The staff picked up our luggage from the cruise line and it was in our room when we arrived. It was also in the lobby ready for transport to the airport when we returned from a day in Kechikan. I highly recommend the New York hotel`s room at the Inn on Creek St.

Without going into extensive details my wife and I were able to save our cruise to Alaska thanks to your Driver/Front Desk/Do Everything Man. He suggested we take the ferry instead of flying from the airport, picked us up and showed us to the cafe while he went to help others. Returning promptly he drove us to our room in the older building and was again precise with the time we asked for to be driven to the ship on 8/21. Every organization can benefit from an employee like him but few are fortunate to have one. Credit is also due to upper management.
