Owner description: The best way to get away from the crowded downtown area is on a motorcycle. Go beach combing, visit Ward Lake, Watch eagles at a Marina, oh ya, and the fresh air. Some days the air may be a little wetter then some but, all in all its awesome here.

“Great Ride”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

Excellent experience renting a Harley from Panhandle. Close walk from the cruise ship. Friendly fast service, had us on our way with minimum hassle. Bikes were new and in good shape. Excellent way to enjoy Ketchikan, beautiful ride, lots of Eagles.

“Great Excursion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

We rented a motorcycle for a period of time while at a port call here in Ketchikan, Alaska from Panhandle Motorcycles -it was great - price was reasonable and included the gas.

Riding up the coastline was very cool - and we made it to the end of the road. We missed the "tour" part they do with a group of bikers as we were not sure if we were actually going to do this or not - but the tour as I understand is very good.

So we just rented on our own (they give you all the gear you need - no need to really bring anything).

Highly Recommended for any biker who wants to experience riding in ALASKA. (pretty hard to get lost also in Ketchikan and riding the main road - which is nice an curvy).

“Best motor bike place in Ketchikan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

I can assure you – having one of PMA bikes at least for couple of hours in Ketchikan was one of the best impressions from the cruise trip to Alaska. When I am back to Lithuania now and share my experiences from the trip – this I always emphasize to everyone – if you go to explore Alaska or Canada – do not do it by boat, do it by motorbike.

Furthermore, we'd like to thank Rick and Merri for their trust and patience with us – we were not very experienced riders. I am sure we got to the best place we could for bike rentals!

Sincere regards,
Tadas and Ruta

“Great way to see Ketchikan on Motorcycle with some knowledgeable, friendly locals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

We were only in Ketchikan for a day (came by cruise ship). Booked the trip through the cruise line, but you may be able to book direct with Panhandle. Their shop where you pick up the bikes and all the equipment (helmets, gloves, and rain gear provided free of charge) was just 1-2 blocks from where the cruise ship docks do it was an easy walk. Once signing our lives away on the standard waiver and insurance forms, we hopped on our late model Sportster complete with wnd screen, and seat back for the passenger (my wife's first time on a motorcycle!). Normally it does rain in Ketchikan, but we had a beautiful sunny day. We probably rode about 30-40 miles through small winding roads with minimal traffic. We made frequent stops for photo opportunities and to hear our guide (a local for all of his life) talk about the area and what we were seeing. We saw jumping salmon in the stream, a couple of Bald Eagles, and the highlight of the trip was a stop at a local beach where the tide had gone out. Our guide showed us all kinds of tidal creatures including a purple starfish! We also made a pit stop at a local coffee show for complimentary cookies on coffee, tea, or water. I highly recommend this trip and this company. Their staff are very friendly and go above and beyond to make sure your trip is enjoyable!

“Ketch'in a Ride in Ketchikan!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2011

My name is Donna Bruner and my husband, Lloyd and I took the motorcycle shore excursion in June. We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary and we love motorcycles! So what better way to see Ketchikan! Rick and Merri Lystad took us on our scenic tour of this quaint little town. With Mountains in the foreground and the nice crisp air, it couldn't have been a nicer ride. We had several stops along the way with opportunities to take pictures, and talk with the locals. We visited a beach area, an overlook and got to see King Salmon just starting their run to their spawning grounds. Eagles and Eaglets dotted the treeline in several areas. You'll notice Totem Poles are quite visible throughout the town. We visited a Clan house which was an area rich in Totem culture. We were witness to a few Totems in the process of being carved and heard the story several Totems told. Quite an interesting area. Not to mention a collection of Vintage automobiles! We enjoyed a coffee/hot chocolate stop at an area Coffee shop. We were asked what we would be interested in seeing and with our small group we covered most of them. Rick and Merri were some of the nicest folks we met on our journey. It was a very enjoyable day!
