My husband and our friend took this tour in Ketchikan in May 2008 while us wives shopped. We booked it through the cruise line we were on. He has not stopped talking about it.
He said it was awsome. The highlight of our trip.
He is a Deadliest Catch fan also, so that made it even more exciting.

My husband and I went on this tour on May 5th, 2008 while on a port stop from our 7 day cruise aboard the Norwegian Star. It was our 1st ever cruise and our 1st ever shore excursion, but it remained our absolute favorite thing we did the whole week. It is still what we talk about most now when people ask us about or trip to Alaska. I would recommend this tour to anyone, but especially to anyone who is a fan of the show "Deadliest Catch" as it is so amazing to be up so close to something you see on tv. The crew is so willing to share their knowledge and experiences. It was definitely one of the funnest experiences I have ever had.

This tour is one that should not be missed by anyone that is a fan of "The Deadliest Catch". The crew is fantastic and allow "hands on" during the entire tour.

They had already set the crab pots out and we were able to watch as they brought them in. There were huge king crab and octopus in the pot and everyone that wanted to was allowed to hold the crab and take pictures. The octopus was put in to a clear holding tank and we were able to watch him there. They showed us how they bait the hooks for fishing and we actually pulled in a line that had rockfish on it. The crew explained every step of the process and even allowed one person to help bait the hooks.

Because of an agreement they have made with an Alaskan tribe, they are allowed to go in to waters where some of the laws that apply to others are waived. Therefore, we were able to watch them feed the eagles, which is normally against the law. The eagles perched in the trees on a point and the crew threw pieces of fish in to the water. As the eagles began to notice what was happening, they would swoop down and snare the fish. It was very exciting to watch.

One thing that seems to be a concern to tourists is that the seas may be rough, since they have seen what the Bering Sea is like. This tour is in the bay and the water was calm. Even though it was a chilly day, the heaters on board were more than enough to keep us warm.

This tour is a fabulous value and definitely should not be missed.

We have just returned back to England from our trip to Alaska on Infinity and the trip of a lifetime on your ship. It certainly was a highlight of the whole trip and we did see much more. We sailed with you on Sept 23rd having booked the trip before we arrived and it lived up to all our expetations and more! Many thanks to one and all. It was avery informative trip and the crew were so passionate at what they do that came over with some enthusiasm that you could relate to every thing. We passed our comments back to the the ship and stated that it was the best trip we had done and will encourage anyone who has the opportunity to try it to do so, If and when we come again to Alaska which hopefully will be sone we will come with you again. Once again thanks for a wonderful trip and the highlight of the cruise. we now can watch Deadliest Catch with a different outlook.
