Quality Inn
Kenai, Alaska

This hotel is adequate but not over the top. Upon arrival there was no front desk agent available to check guests in. There was just a note instructing people to walk to the lobby house phone if you want help. That was a thumbs down to start my stay but not a deal breaker just tacky in my opinion. Same instructions were left when I checked out. They should hire enough people to man the front desk at all times it's a Quality Inn and that's a motel characteristic I'd expect from a no name motel. Again. It a deal breaker but not welcoming or favorable.

Location - This hotel does not offer an airport shuttle however it's only a $6 taxi from the airport to this hotel and that's including the tip. Some reviews stated that the hotels within walking distance from the airport. I would not walk it with my luggage.

Across the street is a Safeway grocery store, a Subways sandwich shop, Kenai River Pizza (who delivers to this hotel) and a Home Depot. A tire shop and an espresso drive through stand share the hotels parking lot.

Hotel - There's really only 5 hotels in this really small town. This isn't the worst hotel but it's just adequate and probably second in rating to The Aspen Extended Stay with it's kitchenette options that Quality Inn does not have. This hotel has a small room with a computer and a printer for guest use. There's an indoor pool and a huge dining area to eat the free breakfast while watching tv. The breakfast is one of the best breakfasts I've seen offered at a chain hotel. The selection is amazing! Note there is NO elevator at this hotel. There are two floors so that's important to know if lifting is a challenge.

Rooms - The rooms are very and I stress VERY small. The bathroom is equally small. There were no king beds available so I stayed in a room with two beds, a desk, a dresser and a night stand which is the usual set up in a hotel but the only difference is these rooms were so very small that it felt very cramped. Usually that's not a big deal for a quick over night but I was a guest for a week and it became tiresome being cramped and it was difficult to walk to open the window because the room was small and cramped and the bed was in the way. On the positive the room was very clean with no odors and no visible stains on the carpet or on the linen. The room has a small fridge, microwave, hair dryer, iron and ironing board.

Wifi - The wifi worked most of the time but I was occasionally bumped off requiring me to log back in with username and passwords because this information would not save for easy log in access. My room was located half way down a long hall so I image if you were in a room even further then mine ( which also meant further from the front desk) your internet connection would probably get increasingly worse so try to get a room closest to the front desk to ensure the best internet connection.

In conclusion - This hotel was just ok it offered adequate options and an amazing free breakfast with a huge variety see my attached photos to get an idea of breakfast options. Out of the five hotels in this town I would say this hotel rates second on the list of Top Kenai Hotels after "The Aspen Extended Stay" that offers kitchenettes with a full fridge and stove burners, Quality Inn doesn't offer that and both hotels are basically located across the street from each other.

I hope this information has been helpful.

The room was very nice, but i would NOT advise you to get a room there if you have children with you!
We had just got there, and were getting settled in at 7:45pm and the complaints from the people under us started rolling in.....My children were not even doing anything to be loud, one was drawing at the table, and the other was playing with my ipad at the other side of the table.....They kicked us out of there, and i had to drive 3 hours back to Anchorage because they charged us for the room anyway, and we had no money to spend on a different hotel, but the kid (desk clerk) could care less......He has a horrible attitude, and i personally feel he should find a job that he doesn't have to deal with the public until he grows up and matures!!

We'd been traveling a long way and a long time to reach Kenai. We'd driven up the Alaska Hwy and had stayed in many motels over the last couple of weeks. This one was the best so far. It was very clean and had great linens and towels. Lots of plugs to charge phones, camera's etc. We couldn't get the TV to work and the great lady at the front desk came right down to our room to help us. I think her name was Toni? This was by far the best breakfast we've had ever at a motel. Way above the continental breakfast. There is eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, fruit, waffles, etc. I wish we were this lucky every night on this trip.

While the staff was very helpful and the 'free' breakfast in the morning was very filling. The Quality Inn was an 'average' place to stay in Kenai, AK. My issues concerned bathroom size - very cramped. It was awkward to use the tub/shower, keep the floor mat in place and navigate around the toilet. It was just a pain to make that happen with a recently twisted knee. The second concern were the shades/curtains. If you stay in rooms at the back of the Quality Inn, there are parking lot lights that come into the room. No amount of curtain adjustment would make a difference. The next issue is fully understood while being in Alaska - there is no room air conditioning system for cooling. If you leave the window open, you'll get road noise from the Kenai Spur Highway. It will settle down after 9:00 pm, but you'll hear it.

The room was clean and presentable. Nothing was out of place and the Wi-Fi for internet access was acceptable. The TV (using DISH, I think) was acceptable and I was able to get the local stations. Again, the staff was pleasant and helpful. Airport access is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile away. Once could walk to the airport in good weather.

The staff was very friendly and offered great suggestions for dining, The room rate was even better with a AAA card.

The room was clean, the bathroom a bit small with the shower and toilet separated from the sink outside the bathroom--a plus if two people are in the same room. There were two queen beds, a small fridge, a respectably sized flat-screen tv with cable, and an operable window (first floor room for reference). The operable window was necessary as the Inn does not have A/C, but this wasn't really an issue for the one night in Kenai in the summer. Even with an open window, it was still very quiet and SAFE!

The location is great--just down the street from the airport, walking distance if not carrying a large bag or much luggage. It is centrally located to, and a short distance on foot to many restaurants, bars and fast food options; also a grocery store (Safeway), a back & foot massage relaxation boutique, an urgent care clinic, and a Blockbuster Video!

Room Tip: Hotel Doesn't Have A/C, but this should not be an issue in Alaska.

Before getting up to Kenai the staff help on some of the issues that I had coming up to Alaska fishing for Reds and clamming. The hotel was nice and quiet. Maybe the rooms could have darker-but that was nothing.

We stay here in July. Room clean, large and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. we enjoy there breakfast. Also room was warm but had a fan and open window. Most all motels in Alaska don't have air conditioners.
