Visiting & dining at Veronica's requires a detour into "Old Town Kenai" from the main Sterling Highway -- but it is very much worth the time and effort to do so! The menu selections are really tasty, made with fresh ingredients, and well-prepared (as well reasonably priced too). The cafe is in an old historic log house, which adds much to its charm and uniqueness (and complements the food very well). Their teas and coffees are excellent complements to your meal... Just across the street is the historic, beautiful Russian Orthodox Church (dating back to the 1800's), and you can also stroll to the edge of the bluffs overlooking the Kenai River, where you can watch hundreds of Alaskans dip-netting for sockeye salmon during the month of July (quite entertaining!). If your itinerary allows time to drive to Veronica's, you will be really pleased that you made the trip -- it's our favorite place to eat in the entire Kenai & Soldotna area!
