“Well-Maintained Trail System and Home of Sockeye Salmon and Bears”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

The trails and walkways at the Russian River Campground are first-rate and well-maintained. The Russian River Falls and the Russian River are frequent sightings of brown bears. We enjoyed our hikes, but insect repellant is a must this year.

“Beautiful Alaska”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

Hiked the 2.3 mile hike up to the Falls to see the bears feeding on Salmon. Did not see the bears but plenty of salmon trying to get up river. Good bug spray a must as well as good shoes. Take a light weight walking stick and water. Hiking trail is easy to follow but you have to be in fairly good walking shape to comfortably make it to the Falls. All ages of people on trail.

“Fishing for Red Salmon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

I was lucky, on the forth of July there were not that many people 'combat' fishing... we had at least 10 feet between us. The early Red salmon run was almost over so the numbers were down but it was still good fun... unlike fishing in most places. The salmon gave a good little fight and were mighty tasty in the frying pan. A young brown bear was wanting to steal our fish throughout the day - and did a few peoples but where and when I was standing we were lucky. Bring lots of hooks and sinkers!
