Inital night - stayed in a room at the front of the hotel - horrible noise from extremely busy street, had to wear ear plugs! Return night - stayed in rear of hotel, room much larger and quieter!

The location of this hotel is great. We got a room with a waterview and obviously neglected to mention non-smoking. The entire floor smelled like smoke when you got off the elevator. The view was great and thankfully you could open the window to air out the room. The bed was just OK, basically this place is for the locale. Not that Juneau is that big and anything would really be too far.

We stayed at the Goldbelt one night as part of a Cruise West small ship cruise down the inside passage. Our room was spacious with an adequate bathroom and was very clean. As it was at the rear of the property it was quiet by both day and night. The beds were comfortable although the pillows were not the best - fortunately we travel with our own. The staff was pleasant and helpful with suggestions. The one negative was the breakfast at the restaurant which we understood was a separate entity from the hotel. The very limited buffet (orange wedges were the only fruit) was the usual eggs/bacon/sausage/potatoes/biscuits and gravy all tepid and tired. Short review: stay at the hotel and skip the restaurant!

I stayed at the Goldbelt for six days in February, 2007. Downtown Juneau is compact. While the Goldbelt is at one edge, it was convenient to everything. The room was clean, good hot water, good amenities. There's a free shuttle to/from the airport. Zen, their restaurant, was excellent. Jaded, the bar, is frequented by all sorts of people. There's good music on Fridays and Saturdays. Not luxurious but more than acceptable.
