“Unfriendly front desk staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Despite the fact that I have stayed at this hotel dozens of times the front desk insisted on charging me $40 over the price I found online. That made the stay very overpriced for the quality. The rooms were 50ish in decor but comfortable and most importantly quiet. The restaurant is so so but convenient.

You might try to have management stay in different rooms to check heating comfort, showers , and comforts of different rooms and floors. Shower and hot water delivery needs help as it could not be adjusted. Thermostats are not set right and we had to open window with heater on to adjust for sleeping. Both rooms 314-315 had this problem.

Thank you for listening

This is a nice hotel with a few quirks, like squeaky beds and thin walls. Our amenities were not replaced on a daily basis. You need to be a weight lifter to turn on the faucets they are so stiff. The room was very clean and otherwise fine. The hotel is definitely overpriced in the "summer season". It is well located within a fairly short walk to a mall and a 24 hour market. There is a bar and a restaurant inside the hotel, with room service available. The dining room is the shining light of this hotel. It has excellent Mexican food at a very reasonable price, and the service has always been exemplary. As much as it rains in Juneau, it's great having a bar and good restaurant within the confines of the hotel. The pool and hot tub has been closed for at least 6 months with no opening in sight.

If you need a hotel in Juneau, your options are limited and prices are high. I needed a place for my family to stay on my own dime and; since I could use a modest number of Wyndham Rewards points to stay here, it was a no-brainer.

Not that I really "enoyed" my stay here, though. It's an older property that could probably only command 1/3rd their room rates if they were located in the Lower 48. A complete renovation is long overdue. If I was paying my own money, instead of using award points, I'm sure I'd feel like I was getting ripped off. But where else are you going to stay -- particularly if you want to be on the north side of town near the airport? The choices are very limited, and the few competing hotels are also very expensive.

In this context, the hotel is fine. The beds were reasonably confortable. The room decor was dated but, overall, functional. The front desk staff was OK, Parking was easy and, if you had to, you could walk to the airport. Bottomline is that I would stay there again. But I wouldn't look forward to it. Juneau could really use something like a Holiday Inn Express or Courtyard by Marriott.

We had an excellent stay at the Travelodge. Glory checked us in very sweetly and gave us all the information we needed. The service and the locals at the bar were friendly and made us seem like part of the community. If you want a luxury resort experience you are in the wrong town. This is Alaska, it's rugged. This is the best deal in town.

This is probably the best of the Juneau Airport hotels. Nonetheless, I can only recommend it as a place to sleep if you have a quick overnight and an early flight to another destination. The room was basic and smelled of stale smoke even though it was supposed to be smoke-free. It has no real amenities worth bothering with. The pool is closed. The restaurant was poorly rated by guest reviews. Options nearby are poor. Rooms were of decent size and reasonably quiet. I changed my travel itinerary to avoid a planned return. The price of the room was about twice its value.

Room Tip: Insist on a "smoke-free" room if that is your preference.

Granted there are no Hiltons, Westins, Marriotts in Alaska.. yet I found the offering of this little hotel to be awesome. I like having comfortable beds and good shower -- which they had. Also they had a good TV selection like Hallmark, etc.. The rooms are large. We had two queens. Two blocks from McDonalds, which we walked for breakfast to get Oatmeal and Pancakes, open at least by 6am. At the end of their hotel is a Mexican restaurant, which we had their breakfast, reasonable prices and good food, open at 7:30am. Had oatmeal, french toast and omelets. Even though you are close to the airport, we didn't hear the planes and we had our windows open and fan going. They also have an indoor pool -- but it was closed for repairs. They had a 4 piece workout room, but didn't get to use, since we had so many activities planned. They also offer shuttles. I counted at least 3 vans. Also had coffee in their lobby and comfy chairs and TV was a good place to meet your party for outings. I really liked this cute hotel and friendly staff. Would highly recommend for others traveling to Alaska.

Room Tip: We stayed at the ends on the 3rd and 4th floor (room 303 and can't remember the other room). Ou...
