This is a small town the cruise boats tender off on Alaskan cruises. They host one boat at a time and excursions from the boat and from the shore cost the same.
This town has two areas, one is the small port where there are two sit down restaurants and small snack/coffee shops. There is some shopping at the tender port along with some hiking trials.
One of the common excursion is the Zipline, which is over a mile long and takes about 1.5 mins to finish and at times going 60 mph. This is fun, and starts with a bus ride and the ride is very pretty. Then once you are on the montain, you zip back near the shore.
You can walk about 1.5 miles to Hoonah, a small town or take a bus from the port. The town has a few things to look at and places to eat. You can use the internet there as well, but quite pricey.
The public phones by the port are all only used by calling cards. Cannot use change to make calls.
This place is small and has a small population. Its one of those places that is refreshing after stopping off bigger ports. Its definitiely a welcome stop on the cruise and very relaxing. Things can be a bit pricey, but not anything too much.
