“Good suite hotel with accomodating staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2013

After a week in Alaska, we appreciated the space to unpack, sprawl out, and do our laundry in the in-room washer/dryer. Our room, which faced the front of the hotel, was very comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful in providing tips on how to get ourselves to the 2 AM ferry. The location is very convenient for walking to the Tracy Arm Ferry, a supermarket and the downtown area.

Room Tip: The Rookery Restaurant is funky spot with economical, interesting dinners.

I spent a few nights at the Juneau Hostel this past spring. I am a previous world traveler and hostel dweller, so I speak from experience. It is a charming building and when walking in during the evening hours one hears the sounds of lively, fun conversation and smells the aroma of good food being prepared by hostel guests in the kitchen. The staff is friendly, relaxed, helpful, and accommodating. I can't imagine anyone having complaints about the Juneau Hostel if they have accurate and realistic expectations for what a hostel experience is. Juneau Hostel is a fun and inviting place to stay for the low budget or experience and adventure seeking traveler!! You will get to meet interesting folks from all over the world in one of the world's most beautiful locations!

We had to stay in Juneau for 6 days on a ferry layover. We wanted a hotel that offered a kitchen and washer/dryer. We were happy to have access to these items during our stay but feel that the cleanliness of the hotel was an issue. It seemed like the house keeping was halfway done. The floor was vacuumed but there were areas missed. There was hair/dirt in the bathroom floor. The kitchen was halfway swept. There was food in the microwave. The dishes were not clean. The cabinets were stained inside and dirty. I had to clean the room and wash all the dishes before I felt comfortable. There was a bad smell in the lobby most of the days we stayed. Smelled like sewage. There was a lot of noise from the road (even late at night) but it didn't really bother us or keep us up. We did not see any sketchy people walking around. I did feel safe here for the most part. Overall, I would not stay here again. If I had known about the Aspen Suites down the road, I would have stayed there.

Just completed my 3rd stay in The Juneau Hotel, it is consistently immaculate, safe, friendly professional staff, convenient location, generous size rooms. Short walk to downtown area restaurants, free shuttle to/from airport and ferry terminal, convenient parking. Love the full kitchen and the stackable washer and dryer in all the rooms. Have also been there with my family and found them to be very kid friendly.

Room Tip: There are excellent Web Specials so check online first.

I have been staying here since this place was under construction. It has come a long way since then. I prefer this hotel to any in Juneau. I like suite hotels with full kitchens. The kitchens has a good selection of utensils and they are stocked with dish soap, sponges, coffee, dishwasher detergent. I also like the in room laundry facilities. Maybe it is because this place is new, but the bathrooms and bedrooms are very nice. Only 1 remote for 2 TVs however...The staff is friendly and keep an eye on things so that you feel safe. It is a little further walk downtown or to the grocery store but not too bad. The rooms are a little noisy from the bridge traffic but that is the only bad thing I can say.

My family has stayed at the Juneau for several days, two years in a row. The rooms are clean and very large. We had a room with two queen beds in a seperate bedroom, a full kitchen, and a large living room with a hide-a-bed. The quitetest rooms are on the southwest side of the building, as the road and bridge run along the north and east sides. Both of our stays occured in the winter, and the only construction noise we heard was the sound of the snow being cleared from the highway...a common occurance in Alaska. Contrary to what one reviewer stated, the staff was quite friendly and there were no "shady" characters...just friendly Alaskans. We plan to stay at this hotel again in the future and would recommend it highly.

Room Tip: As mentioned in the review, the southwest rooms are quieter.

The City of Juneau often works heavy construction equipment between midnight and 4AM right outside the hotel, shining spotlights and floodlights into the rooms and making as much noise as you would expect of any construction site. It is simply not possible to sleep. The hotel staff are unwilling to do anything about it, and instead told me to just ignore it and "have a good night, sir" - which means they don't give a damn. There are no cruise ships in town and no other noise at other hotels that was reported during the summer - if you need to sleep, you should choose one of those hotels and avoid this place.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the Channel would have protection from the spotlights and floodlights. The construc...
