This place sounded touristy, but a local guide said its where local families go to eat. It's a few miles out of town, but they sent a van to pick us up at our hotel, which was great. The decor is rustic, and it includes a "museum" (a room full of quite interesting items) from the nearby mine. As for food, for $19.95 you get all you can eat of: grilled salmon, breaded halibut chunks, ribs, baked beans, a salad bar and corn bread. All the food was simple, home cooking, and reasonbly tasty. My three teeanagers loved the all you can eat part. I might not go out there just for the food, although it was good, but the whole experience was terrific, very Alaskan, and highly recommended on that basis. (P.S. In August, you can go out to the shorline right behind the restaurant, walk a few hundred yards to Sheeps Creek, and watch the salmon run!).
