It was amazing to see all the wonderful Icons from Russia, I can't wait to see how the Church will look when the Garden is Blooming.

“Beautiful and Unexpected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

This is a Russian Orthodox Church built in the late 1880s. The icons and the altar come across the Strait from Russia, but the rest is made in America. Beautiful craft.

“Lovely little church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

I really enjoyed including a trip to this charming historic church in a short walking excursion around downtown Juneau. The church is a bit dilapidated, but filled with beautiful relics and artwork and is an interesting part of Juneau history. I wish them the best in their renovation efforts. Stop by when in Juneau.

“Stop By If You're In The Area”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

A neat little historic stop. Not nearly as impressive as the Russian history in Sitka, but then again Juneau wasn't even founded while Russia ruled Alaska. Worth a stop if you on your way up to the mining museum or to hike the Perseverance Trail. Hopefully the place can get some funding for refurbishment. Sad to see this piece of history crumbling away.

“guide books are wrong, but pretty church”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2012

My guide book said that this church had originally been constructed in Russia, torn down, and then reconstructed in Juneau. The church must have been asked about this a lot because they've put up a sign saying that is not the case. The actual church building was built in Juneau but the main altar with all the paintings etc. did come from Russia. It's interesting to see this to better understand the heritage of the area and to see something so unique that you may not otherwise see elsewhere.
