Booked a charter with Hitime early May 2012. Toni was the Captain to take us out on the initial
schedule, but sadly she was not available upon arrival due to other commitments she had
made with her other schedule and stand in Captain, Ben Olson.
The good news was that Ben, her other Captain, was available and although we were
somewhat late on arrival, Ben came to the rescue not only as a stand in Captain for Toni, but
also to pick us up at the dock even though we were late to fish that morning.
We fished a full day in the end, caught 8 large Chum Salmon, 4 reasonable size Halibut, 5
Pink Salmon and 1 beautiful size Sockeye Salmon along with some Turbot and Cod.
We also got to see the Whales, lots of them, feeding, jumping, and playing in Auke Bay..
A great time, good weather, and good fishing with whales to view along the way...
No complaints...thanks again guys, just sorry we couldn't see Toni again and not sure though
if we'll be back in the area as this was our second trip..and Alaska is a good distance from
the only negative thing was the confusion with us and the Captain (Toni) regarding the time
suppose to meet for our charter that was arranged almost 90 days in advance..We arrived, by
10 AM, no Captain, no Boat, and no Call from the Captain, but the Captain thought we should
have called her and we had thought since we booked the whole day we were good to go...all
ok in the end though..make sure you call the Captain before the day you fish....even if you
have given a 50% deposit for your charter and arrive by 8AM or you could end up like us,
sitting and waiting on the pier for the Captain and the Boat.
