We spent a delightful afternoon with Capt. Chris and Moon, his wonderful canine companion. We'd spend every afternoon with them if we could. The whale watching was absolutely the best I've ever experienced. Because the boat is small and Chris is a marine biologist pro who truly understands the movements of whales, we were able to get to the action before anyone else and long before the big "cattle-marans" that most of our fellow shipmates ended up on. Sure, they saw the same whales as we did--they were just a lot further away and got there at the end instead of the beginning. Cost-wise, there's not all that much difference from the big boats that take out a hundred or more people. There were six of us and we all are still talking about the adventure. The dog is great--he barks when he sees sea lions or seals off the back of the boat. If you want an up-close and personal whale watching excursion, this is the best--and I've been on a few whale-watching excursions over the years. A great experience all around. He picked us up at the cruise dock, explained some highlights of the area as we drove out to the dock, and on the way back, as well as provided us with a wealth of information about the behavior of the animals. There were snacks and soft drinks on board, and opportunities to sit on top of the boat or inside, and to move around for the best view. It was just a terrific afternoon and /He also does fishing excursions and if they're anything like the whale watching....they're likely fabulous as well.///////////////////////////////////////////
