“Nice little side trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

Great learning experience and well worth the few extra dollars to add to other tours as an option. Understanding how the salmon are bred and released is just as much a part of the show as seeing them return via the fish ladder. Not an A list attraction but certainly interesting.

“fascinating”

I learned a lot about the 5 types of salmon, the life cycle. Never imagined seeing so many in one place.

“What a pleasant surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

I learned so much from the staff here and was surprised to see the salmon jumping over each other trying to get to the top to lay their eggs. I learned that these are NOT farm raised - no such thing in Alaska. They are free roaming salmon and come back here when their life cycle comes to a close.

“A very informative center.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

The hatchery doesn't take long to visit so include it in your plans when in Juneau. You get a great view of the ladder stairs for the salmon entering the hatchery and inside they have a nice tank for viewing many creatures of the ocean and some that can be touched in a tank.

“Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

There sure are a lot of salmon swimming up and I learned about their behaviors. Over all it was a fairly short little tour but also a small price. So if you have the time stop by but don't make it first or even second on your list.
