“We enjoyed this location.”

Prospector Hotel

Apr 27, 2008

This hotel was about 5 long blocks from the town center, but our room had a great view of the harbor. The room had recently been redone, so it was quite welcoming. The only negative was the little balcony which was evidently a popular spot with the visiting seagulls, so it was pretty full of bird droppings. We just kept the doors shut. The lobby was a bit tired, as were many things in Juno, but the staff was cheerful and willing to chat and give directions to just about anywhere. I would give it hotel a "B"

“Dirty, Overpriced, pooly maintained”

The worst hotel I have stayed at in the US. Poorly maintained, dirty, no AC, TV didn't work. I reported the problem with the TV to the front desk the morning of my first day, two days later they still hadn't fixed the TV. It was not that the TV did not work that bothered me, but that they did nothing to fix it.
There was peeling paint in the bathroom, and the carpet was so dirty I wouldn't walk on it without my shoes on.
The only positives for this hotel are its downtown location and view of the bay.

“Nice hotel, no bells or whistles”

We stayed at the Prospector Hotel and thought it was OK. We had a room on the road side of the hotel and it was hot so we had the window open. The noise from the highway was quite loud. I would recommend a stay on the mountain side. There is no AC and we could not get a fan from the office even though we asked in the late afternoon more than once. That made our stay pretty uncomfortable. The hotel should invest in a few $10 fans and make some guests very happy. It was only about 65' in Juneau on that day but inside the hotel on an upper floor was very uncomfortable. The bathroom needed to be renovated and it was not so clean due to the many years of use. Otherwise the hotel was in a good location for the sights and but very average in every other way. The balconys are not real, only decoration so don't choose the hotel thinking you can go out on the balcony. If you are looking for something special or different, look elsewhere. The restaurant was OK and I might dine there again. Hotels in Juneau are expensive and I think this one was priced about normal for the area. The best things about the hotel were the restaurant and the location.

This is a decent hotel for a good price. The rooms are big and clean. It is in a good location for walking to town and restaurants. The hotel has wifi, but it is spotty and often needs to be reset. I thought the food quality and service in the restaurant was poor. Lots of food is served, but it isn't very good. I would go back because of the location and price.

Stayed there for business in May. Rooms were DIRTY. Carpets were stained and the overall room was dingy. My colleague in the next room didn't sleep well because of noise coming from the upstairs. I'd recommend Pearson's Pond in the Valley instead - it's a drive, but well worth it.
