Wow, what a pleasant surprise I found in Hope, Alaska. I was looking for a place that was reminiscent of the "old Alaska"...mining, laid back, but plenty to do if I wanted to. When I rolled into Hope (great name for an Alaskan town!), the first place that caught my eye was Eagle Rising Resort. The thing that kept me there were the friendly people, the great accommodations, the fun at the Seaview Bar and Cafe and the Whitewater rafting on Six-Mile Creek.Eagle Rising has moderately priced rooms, deluxe cabins for the larger groups or those that want the "extras" like a hot-tub, gas grill and TV. The little country store was well stocked and the employees were a wealth of information about what to do and see in Hope and Alaska in general. The espresso was good, even for a "coffee snob" like me!Most of all, I found Hope to be what I always dreamed Alaska would be like. Thanks, Eagle Rising, for making my Alaskan dream vacation come true!
