This hotel was great for myself and my family. The staff was very helpful from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. Everyone was friendly and cheerful. For a Xmas break for our family there could be little better in such a small town. There was a place for the kids to play, two restaurants, a quiet bar with a fireplace for Dad to relax and read while the kids were in the next room. A fitness center downstairs made the stay complete. A trail to the beach is a short walk away. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone. We'll stay there every time we go to Homer.

We stayed here in '07 and are heading back in '08 for fishing trips. Underwhelming and in need of some sprucing up, this property is pricey for whatcha get but perfectly servicable for exhausted anglers. Free wireless access was nice (but not really free at these prices).
The reason we're going back is flexibility. There must be a lot of charming B&B's that are better values but as we never know where on the Kenai peninsula the weather will let us fish. This property lets us change our plans on relatively short notice. In that regard staff was very accomodating. Most B&B's can't offer that flexibility.
If you are coming to experience the charm of Homer, find a comfy B&B on the ocean or with a fabulous view.

We stayed at the Bidarka Inn what a great place! just like home NEW pillow top beds,free HBO, VERY CLEAN. Don't understand the bad reviews.

They charged me for an extra room. I contacted them by phone
and U.S. mail with documentation showing the over charge ($136.73).
They never called back. This is a privately owned Best Western,
but I called the Best Western headquarters anyways. The Best
Western headquarters contacted the Bidarka Inn and received
no reply.

The reservation process was no better. We contacted them multiple
times before the day of our stay and they couldn't get the reservations
straight.
