Bay Avenue B&B was the perfect location for our trip to Homer. It had recently changed owners and the rooms were all redone with new beds, bedding and furniture. It is located on a bay just outside the center of town and the Homer spit (great local color). It was great to be near everything, especially all the small shops on the spit.
The breakfast was wonderful, a fresh hot egg, potato, sausage caserole, cereals, plus local breads, fruit, fresh ground local coffee with each cup different and made by local potters.
The owner, Laurie, had local fishing experience and was very helpful with suggestions of where to go and what to do. It was fun to talk to many of the other guests to trade stories.
Our room had its own private entrence (you didn't have to go into the main area to get to your room) a private bath, and was sparkling clean. The bed was very comfortable with a quiet nights sleep. The view from our window was enough to not even want to turn on the TV.
We used the outside hot tub, even though the fall air was starting to turn nippy at the end of the day.
Be sure to eat at the Lands End Restaurants at the end of the spit. Fantastic views of the bay, mountains, and fishing boats as they come and go. Fresh halibut and chips on the outside deck or in the dining room when it was chilly. We had lunch there most every day.
We went halibut fishing and had a blast as well as caught enough to take home with us for our winter enjoyment. Was not sea sick, although two others in the party were. Make sure you take something a few hours before you go out.
We stayed in Homer 4 days, and would like to go back again, staying at the same place. The halibut is gone from our freezer and it is time to restock
