“Comfortable and cozy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2011

This comfortable and cozy B&B is located in a quiet location with beautiful views of the bay. Sue and Doug have high standards for their place and maintain it well. Due to our late change of schedule, we stayed in a different room each night. The Trophy Room was our favorite. The Captain's room was not as spacious, but it was still comfortable. One evening, a moose and her calf were grazing across the street. If you want to stay in for the evening, ask to see the free DVD library.

Room Tip: Trophy or the separate cabin overlooking the bay.

Jodi and I were first time visitors to Homer, AK and the Alaska Beach House B&B made it so much more rewarding. Sue and Doug Alaniva have outdone themselves with each room having it's unique, beach house type flair. The room was very comfortable and cozy. We enjoyed just sitting on the cliffside, watching the boats coming in and out of the harbor. The next morning, the tide was out and we took a nice stroll along the beach. Do you want to see bald eagles? This is the place. They are in the trees, along the beach, ......

This was my second visit with Doug and Sue at the Beach House. Lovely people, beautiful rooms. Everything one could ask for. Clean, accommodating, good, home baked breakfast treats.

We had a great time at Alaska Beach house B&B ! We HIGHLY recommend it for comfort, spit spot cleanliness, incredible baked goods delivered to your room, gorgeous views, warm atmosphere, gracious owners, the list goes on! LOVED being able to walk down their decks right to the beach and all the way up the spit, what a treat! With all our basketball commitments we couldn't enjoy the cool wood fired hot tub but maybe next time!
THANK YOU for a wonderful stay!

Our two night stay at the Beach House was amazing. The location was perfect, the room quaint, clean and cute, the breakfast delicious, and the hot tub too die for. Sue will fire up the hot tub for you (wood burning) and you can just sit and watch the magnificient view as the eagles roost in the tree overhead. An unforgettable experience, we have referred friends as well. If you the big resort type this is not the place for you. If you appreciate a quiet nature setting and a friendly staff look no further.

My husband and I went to Homer in August and the Beach House is definitely the place I would recommend there! We checked out places all around town and none can compare with this location. The Beach House is built right on the cliff overlooking Kachemak Bay and the wild mountains beyond. There is a wood-fired (!) hot tub on the lawn where you can soak while admiring the unbelieveable scenery! A pair of bald eagles hang out in a tree overhead. We stayed in the Compass Rose Cottage. It is literally hanging off the edge of the cliff. From the private balcony, you can see forever and feel like you are in a world all your own!!!! Lay in bed and soak up that view!!! The owners provide breakfast that you can enjoy in your room whenever you want, which is very nice. Lots of excursions leave from Homer spit, which is just a few minutes away. This is real Alaska!

Hosts Sue and Doug were great,- friendly and informative without being intrusive. We stayed in the Trophy room which was cosy, comfortable and full of interesting things. Breakfasts were stashed in the fridge [super home made cakes and pastries!] and real coffee maker, as much as you wanted, no need to dress up and chat- very relaxing! Views from the garden are spectacular and we appreciated being able to walk down from there to the beach. Definitely the best thing for us though was the 'resident ' eagle living in the tree at the edge of the garden with two almost fully grown chicks that fed daily on the beach below -quite beautiful!
We really enjoyed our stay .
