My mom and I stayed here one night at the end of May 2010. We really enjoyed it. There was a diesel leak in my place in Seward, so we had to find a place to stay, on the cheap, as it was an unexpected expense to find a hotel room under the circumstances, in the summer season. My mom was going on the ferry to Kodiak the next day, and we're glad we stumbled on this hotel. I stopped by the Best Western and they wanted something like $219 or $269 for the night. I picked up a Homer brochure and called around. The Ocean Shores wanted $99. The Pioneer Inn wanted $89. Being summer season, I called the Heritage Hotel, which my stepdad recommended, and I thought they quoted me $79. We asked to see the room, liked it, and when we said we'd take it, he said, $71.06. Bonus! The front desk gentlemen were very nice. I really liked the place. It's a little off, maybe a little quirky? But I like that. I either like a nice hotel with nice amenities, or something for a good price, that's a little different. It's a historical building and they have a glass display case showing a log book or something of when the hotel first opened. There is a shared kitchen, with a full size frig and stove, cupboards, with a door outside with views of the ocean. Our room was upstairs with a slight view of the ocean. There were two beds. A twin and a double. There was a rather small, old TV. It seemed like I liked the lamp shade and homemade curtains on the window. Something different and a nice touch. Everything worked and was adequate. No breakfast. But what I liked was that there were coffee cups with to-go lids in the lobby. Good to reduce spillage when you're driving. All in all an enjoyable experience. Oh yeah, good location, too, being on Pioneer Ave. right next to Alices.
