We booked this trip before we got to Homer, - had we waited we could have taken a different option for going to Slovinia, only accessible by boat or plane. We thought it was going to be a narrated nature cruise over there. We went by a aluminium barge kind of boat and we made one stop to see an otter. We were dropped off at Jakolof Bay and went by van to Slovinia about 20 mins away. The driver was quite interesting to listen to but it was only local chit-chat - we were the only ones in the van. A couple of hours later we had to make our way to the airport and we flew back in a four seater plane. We then got a pre-paid (by Makos) taxi back to the depot on the Homer Spit. The cost was $145 each. We should have looked around more for different options - they do run proper ferries that take you right into Slovenia. I did go back to the depot and say that I thought it was a nature cruise and they replied that it wasn't. Slovinia is a lovely place and we enjoyed the couple of hours there but it was an expensive outing for $290.25.
