I took my mom who was visiting from out of state to Homer and we decided to try out the Land's End. We decided to leave our bags and my small service dog (whom I need for my seizures) in the room while we walked the Homer spit. We were shocked to find that we got back we were locked out of our room when we returned about an hour later. We went to the front desk and the clerk non-chalantly told us that we were being charged $215 more for having a dog on the premises! We told him that he was a service dog, but he said it didn't matter since we didn't tell them upon check-in. Not only did they invade our privacy by going into our room uninvited, but didn't even give us the option of staying somewhere else before charging us extra money.
The front desk staff was very rude and unhelpful and had no sympathy for us whatsoever. The room was also extremely over priced, old and outdated. We had to drive all the way to Soldotna because everywhere else in Homer was full. We definetely weren't going to stay at a place that treated us so bad. Not only are the rooms tiny, but there's a small hot tub that only seats about 3 people comfortably when they're a hotel that houses at least 50 people. Try Kenai Peninsula Suites, they are 100 times better, you'll by far get your money's worth. Lands End has no thoughts of making their guests happy, they only want to take your money.
