My wife and I stayed here for one night in July 2008, hadn't booked in advance but managed to get a room.

King bed, great view, room was functional but unfortunately not too soundproofed, a herd of very noisy elephants were upstairs!

Location is great , right at the end of Homer Spit, it's a 10 minute walk to the start of the shops and restaurants although downtown is off spit, say a 10 minute drive. Great walk on the beach.

Breakfast was good, we had lunch as well upon arrival and I can recommend their crab and artichoke dip, to die for.

The staff were very friendly and although the place is nothing special, it's location and views certainly were.

We had a really nice room overlooking the Bay. The room seemed to be newly painted and refurbished. Our only problem was that there was no air conditioning and the fan wasn't enough to cool us down.

We booked this one solely based on the view. We had the panoramic view of ocean and snow-capped mountains. Hard to beat that.

The room was pretty simple, but had a VERY high bed....I didnt really understand why it had to be so high off the ground. It technically had a balcony, but this was basically a fridge for us. You could fit a chair out there, but I dont know why you would bother. We left drinks out there and used it to take pictures of our wonderful view.

The staff was very hotel-like. The excursion desk was very helpful for us. They were able to connect us with a kayaking company in the morning and by afternoon we were sea kayaking across the bay.

So our stay was great, but after we left I went out of cell phone service for a few days. When I got service, I checked my voice mail and had one from Land's End. I called them thinking something was wrong with the room or payment or something. After multiple calls I got the guy who called me.

He said "I just wanted to call to make sure everything was ok with your stay" in a somewhat upset voice. I responded that it had been a few days, but I don't remember having any problems and asked my wife and she didn't remember any problems either. He said "Well, I just wanted to call to make sure because you called the housekeeper". I told him I didn't remember calling the housekeeper, and that I didn't remember having any problems and if I did, it didn't matter now since I'm not staying there now. He said again: "ok, well I'm just wondering why you called the housekeeper".

Up to this point I'm thinking he means 'call the housekeeper' as in she leaves a card in the room with her number in case of a problem with the room. I don't remember if they even had one of these cards, since I didn't call the housekeeper nor did I have a problem with the room. But after this last statement from him, I'm thinking he means called the housekeeper at her home. So I asked if that's what he meant. He said "yeah". I told him I didn't call the housekeeper at her home and that was the end of the conversation.

Very, very strange to call up a guest solely to accuse them of calling the housekeeper at her home considering I would have no way of getting her home phone number. Very weird.

Just got back from our 2 week adventure from Anchorage, Homer and Seward. The room was okay--nothing special except for the views of the bay and mountains. The front office workers were like robots. Name, credit card, here's your keycard. Went to breakfast at their restaurant. One waitress for about 5 or 6 tables. She had to search for her help. All she found were two other ladies to seat and serve water to guests. No one took any orders. We left after patiently waiting 20-25 minutes.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was facing the water and had a small balcony and good sized picture window. The views were great. The room was large and plenty for my wife and I. I had little contact with the staff except for checking in and out but they were friendly. Being at the end of the spit you are near the shops and tours. The views are wonderful, even when it rains you can still see otters, dolphins, and numerous seabirds and bald eagles. Well worth the stay.
